The Details: Children Of Bodom are always an exciting band on the live stage and while they recently made an appearance on the Rockstar Mayhem Tour, that is nothing like a full on headlining show. This is the “Halo Of Blood” tour and they shall be hitting NYC for two appearances and bringing along label mates Death Angel and those Faroese titans of Metal Tyr so you know this is going to shake the venue to its foundations. Now thanks to the fine folks at Livenation, PiercingMetal is going to put a few fans into the second nights show so read more below on how to participate.

When and Where: Saturday, March 29th @ Irving Plaza (17 Irving Place, NYC)

To Participate: I liked this premise about band assembly that I did once so I shall do it again. Build me the ultimate Finnish Metal band and I mean give me a guitarist or two (or three if you choose to go to Iron Maiden route), a bassist, a drummer and a keyboardist and lead singer. Tell me why this band lineup works and name for me their very first album together. I will be picking from the best submissions and replying to them directly. All submissions are moderated so please only enter once. Be sure to enter your full real name and a working email address in the event we need to reach you. Bring it on and I suggest you impress me because Alexi Laiho expects the very best from his fans. I am sure the same applies to the Death Angel and Tyr folks.

Restrictions: All of the PiercingMetal contests are open to our loyal readers, Facebook Page likers and Twitter Followers but that being said we are still always looking for the newest names first so EVERYONE gets the chance to enjoy a show on the provider and our site. We never let on how many tickets we have so it’s always smart to submit something just in case it’s your lucky day. Based on the frequency of our contests we do keep track of the winner list but please be aware that if you had won something over the last month or so of contests your chances are less likely for this one. Please note that “Guest” and “Anonymous” submissions are not eligible either.

Be ye wanting some of the Metal? Well let me oblige a little bit with these handy dandy links to some offerings of the stuff.

Here’s one of my shots of Alexi Laiho which was secured via the PiercingMetal Camera during the 2013 Rockstar Mayhem Fest. He looks intense.

  1. vocalist-Jari Mäenpää
    Guitarist-Niklas Sundin
    Bassist-Niilo Sevänen
    Keyboardist-Emmi Silvennoinen
    Drummer-Marko Tarvonen

Forgot about this when making the line up this line up would work because all of them with the exception of sundin are all or were in folk band but i picked sundin to be in this line up cause if anyone can adapt it him and there first album would be called JARI’S NOSE

    1. Alright Mr. Dicks I like where you are coming from here and will be giving you a ticket for the Saturday show by Children Of Bodom. Please stay tuned to the comments for one from me that lines out how you claim this ticket on the night of the show.

  2. Vocals – Ville Laihiala
    Guitar – Lord Sargofagian
    Guitar – Samuli Ponsimaa
    Bass – Sami Hinkka
    Keyboards – Tuomas Holopainen
    Drums – Veli-Matti Suihkonen

I think this would be an interesting mix of individuals. They’re all top notch musicians, and although it is folk/pagan heavy, the addition of Lord Sargofagian from Baptism would give the band a seriously different and unique sound. I would definitely listen to anything that these guys put out together! As for the first album, lets go with Finnish Hoard!

    1. Man oh man do I like the premise of this one. Although I admit that when I saw the first name “Ville” I thought you were going to put the guy from HIM in there. So congrats Peter you have won a ticket for Saturday’s Children Of Bodom show at Irving Plaza. Please stay tuned to the comments for one from me about how you claim it.

  3. Albert Witchfinder – Bass/Vocals
    Peter Vicar – Guitar
    Earl of Void – Drums

That is the lineup of doom metal band Reverend Bizarre. For me, Reverend Bizarre is already the ultimate Finnish metal band. Their atmosphere, songwriting, and playing ability were always top notch of everything they ever released. I am still hoping they decide to reform to at least play together for a few gigs.

For the sake of a more interesting submission, and because Finland does have a really great metal scene, here is a line up that I think would be interesting to see:

Mika Luttinen (Impaled Nazarene) – Vocals
Lasse Pyykkö (Hooded Menace) – Bass/Backing Vocals
Tomi Ullgrén (Rapture, Shape of Despair, Impaled Nazarene) – Guitar
    Shatraug (Sargeist, Horna) – Guitar
    Eero Pöyry (Skepticism) – Keyboards
    Mikko Virnes (ex-Demilich) – Drums

I think this line up would be interesting given the diversity of the bands where these musicians come from. While, I’m not 100% certain, I’d totally think this lineup would work. It’s not uncommon to see Finnish musicians banding in different bands, even if it’s outside their main genre. Even Alexi Laiho played in Impaled Nazarene for a short time, and recorded an album with them. A possible album title for the above lineup is “Endless Morgues.”

  4. Alexi and tarja turunen -vocals
    Anti kokko -guitar
    Patti kokko-guitar
    Tuomo latvala -drums

This could be a really interesting mix or a really terrible one. You never know until you fully experiment. The name of the first album would have to be FINNISH THEM!

    1. Vocalist/Lead Guitarist – Jari Maenpaa (I’m sure no one knows him)
      Rhythm Guitarist – Sami Yli-Sirnio (Waltari/Kreator)
      Bassist – Niilo Sevänen (Insomnium)
      Drummer – Kai Hahto (Wintersun)
      Keyboardist – Tuomas Holopainen (Nightwish)

A well known Melodic Death Metal foundation, with some classical music arrangements would make things beyond epic and more theatrical compared to many Finnish bands in the extreme metal genre. Their debut album “The Draconian Essence” will be released in June 11th 2016 via Nuclear Blast Records.

      1. Clever Jesse, very clever. Not only did you give me an album but also a label and release date. That was great. So you have won a ticket to the Saturday Children of Bodom show. Please stay tuned for the details on how to claim it which will come as a comment from me.

  5. Mathias “Vreth” Lillmåns -vocals
    Teemu Mäntysaari- Guitar
    Markus Toivonen -Guitar
    Henkka Seppälä- Bass
    Tuomas Holopainen -Keyboards
    Jaska Raatikainen -Drums

The lineup is from various Finnish metal bands–Finntroll, Ensiferum, Wintersun, Nightwish and Children of Bodom– joined together to create a Finnish supergroup with a unique sound that intensifies and represents a diverse mix of metal genres such as folk, melodic death,symphonic/power metal. The name of their first album would be War of the Transcendents.

    1. Great ideas Jennifer so congrats on winning one of our tickets for Children of Bodom on Saturday at Irving Plaza. Please stay tuned to the comments for one from me that lines out how you claim it at the show.

  6. Vox- Mika Luttinen (Impaled Nazarene)
    Guitar- Shatraug (Horna, Behexen, Sargeist)
    Bass- Qralen (Horna)
    Drums Horns (Sargeist)
    Keys- Janme Wirmen (COB)

This band works because you got the over the top, kinda juvenile lyrics of Impaled Nazarene, the beautiful black metal melodies and harmonies of Horna, Sargeist, and black metal groove of Behexen, a solod rhythm section who are familiar with the playing styles of the other members and the most unique thing, which I consider him to be in Bodom, the amazing keyboard playing of Janne Wirmen, added to the contrast of the black metal sound of the band as a whole. First album – Finnish Uprising/World Downfall. It’s ealry in the am and I got like two minutes to put my lunch away and pick up my class. Cheers and good luck!

  7. If I were to create my own Finnish band, it would be comprised of Alexi Laiho (lead guitar), Ville Valo (vocals), Henrik Klingenberg (keyboards), Marco Heitala (bass), Zachary Hietala (guitar), and Emppu Vuorinen (guitar). I think this band would work well together because collectively, they would create the perfect blend of melodic death metal, symphonic power metal, and beautiful “love” metal. This particular band’s first album would be called Fellowship of the Finnish because it would in fact be created through a fellowship of some of Finland’s finest metal bands. Also, it is important to note that I want to attend the Bodom show so I can further familiarize myself with some of Finland’s greatest musicians!

    1. Well done Miss Garza and while your submissions are sound your rationale on making this an educational Finnish process as well find me saying congrats on winning one of our tickets to the show on Saturday at Irving Plaza. Please stay tuned to the comments where one from me will outline the details on how you claim this.

  8. OK, the ultimate Finnish metal band has to have Alexi Laiho on lead guitar, for screaming I will have Mika Luttinen [Impaled Nazarene] on vocals, time keeper shall be Jan Rechberger [Amorphis], dealing the bass none other than Sami Kukkohovi [Sentenced] and finally second guitar shall be played by Emppu Vourinen [Nightwish]. And if we have keyboards as well then let them be played by Emppu’s bandmate and master keyboarder Tuomas Holopainen [Nightwish].

This lineup would work because they are Finnish and like to drink alcohol like fish. The first album would be called “In Vodka We Trust”.

  9. when asked this question by the metal maestro Ken Pierce i have never been much of a fan of the so called SUPERGROUPS ! lets face it how many have ever made a big impact ? and perhaps wintersun is already the finnish supergroup that ken has requested .

i am a huge fan of finnish metal bands ! always feeling excitement in hearing new of them announcing North American tours .

to me all of the following bands are SUPER amorphis , finntroll , ensiferum , moonsorrow, korpiklanni, nightwish , turisas .
but my Finnish moment would be getting to see Pasi Koskinen doing vocals in amorphis live . since i never got the opportunity.

but with kens rules Pasi Koskinen vox
    netta skog accodrian
Samu “Beast Dominator” Ruotsalainen – drums
    Emmi Silvennoinen – keyboards
    Samuli Miettinen – bass guitar

    Markus Toivonen – guitars
not sure quite what it would sound or a name

  10. I realize I asked a lot with this one Steve but that is good enough for me and you will have a ticket for the Bodom show on Saturday. Please stay tuned for the details which shall come in a comment from me.

  11. Alright Bodomites this contest is closed so congratulations to all of our winners for their submissions. Thanks to the rest also because that was some really great stuff but we only had so much to allot. On the night of the show bring your ID to the venue box office and ask for the Livenation list. There might be a PiercingMetal Contest reference as well. You will then be given your ticket for the show. Should you encounter any issue, please politely ask for an onsite manager and cite how this contest was done in conjunction with Livenation Marketing. I’ll be hitting the show as well so if you see me in the Metal masses do please say hello.
