The Details: Bret Michaels is the voice behind the legendary Glam Rock band Poison and while the band he is most famously known for seems to be taking a break, Bret himself is keeping busy with a new Reality TV show called “Rock My RV” and has just released a new CD entitled “Jammin’ With Friends”. He is also going to be making a one night only appearance in NYC at the famous B.B. King Blues Club and Grill and thanks to the venues Marketing Masterminds, some lucky PiercingMetal readers are going to be hitting the show for free. Just read further down on how to participate in this particular contest. You know this ain’t going to be “Nothin’ But A Good Time” so join me and all the rest of the “Fallen Angels” as we “Cry Tough” at the top of our lungs (I’m sorry, I just had to go there).

When and Where: Thursday, August 22nd at B.B. King Blues Club (237 West 42nd Street NYC)

To Participate: I’ll stick to a recent format that I have been using and ask you fans to tell me three things that you like about Bret Michaels and his media adventuring whether they be Reality TV related (“Rock Of Love”, “Celebrity Apprentice”, “Rock My RV” etc) or with his Poison and solo gigs or just something about the music that he has given us over the years. Writing “he’s hot” or “I just love him” will sadly not work out at all because that is far too easy and we like making you think with our contests. I’ll be responding to the best ones with a comment of my own. Be sure to number them one through three for clarity and ease of reading (and you must offer up three). It’s important to enter your full real name and an email address in the comment form because we shall need that for the listing purposes. It also never hurts to subscribe to the comments for the duration of the contest so you know if and when you win immediately.

Restrictions: PiercingMetal.com contests are open to all of our regional site readers but we do look at new responders first in order to give everyone a fair shot at enjoying a show on the provider and us. We still encourage all to respond because you never know just how many tickets we are offering or when the most recent folks actually won if there is no one new. Readers that won our recent Summer Slaughter, Wintersun or Phil Anselmo contests are not eligible. Sorry, it’s too soon to win again against those shows. Please also be aware that Guest and Anonymous submissions while likely approved are not eligible to win.

  1. 1) Number 1 should always be about the music, and although Poison hasn’t always been the most respected band, I think they’re really fun and technically better than most people give them credit for. “Look What the Cat Dragged In” came out when I was about 10 and “Open Up and Say…Ahhhh” was one of my favorite albums of my early teen years and there’s a great deal of nostalgia in seeing Bret still rock on at a high level.

    2) I try to avoid reality shows, but “Apprentice” is one of the only ones that I watch and I was very proud to see Bret represent himself and this genre of music very well on that show. He proved that he’s a smart guy and has a great creative mind.

    3) Bret’s work with the American Diabetes Association and the Life Rocks Foundation is fantastic and he’s raised millions for these worthy causes.

  2. 1. Bret Michaels was born and raised in Pittsburgh, like me. I love that he always represents his hometown while on tour and on tv by wearing Steelers gear and waving terrible towels.
    2. Poison has always been a really fun band and always puts on a great show. Bret always finds a way to connect with the audience and make the crowd feel special.
    3. My boyfriend and I have been watching Rock My RV every week and have even started a fun drinking game to play during the show.

    2. He’s always stayed true to himself musically. From Poison to his individual career he’s never made crappy music. He always rocks on!

  4. 1. My daughter came home with a Poison tape in 1987 and played it all the time. Their songs were catchy and fun and I ended up becoming a fan myself and have been listening to them ever since. It was always nice to be able to bond with my daughter over music since she always thought I listened to “old people’s music” back then. We have many fond memories of singing along to Poison songs while cleaning the house or driving in the car. It always made her laugh because I knew all the words.
    2. Like Bret, my husband and brother also suffer from diabetes. I love that Bret plays shows for charity and donates a lot of money to the American Diabetes Association as well as many other organizations like the Make -A-Wish foundation. He seems like a good-hearted person who actually goes the extra mile to help others instead of just partying all his money away like most other rockstars.
    3. Despite his busy schedule with touring and filming reality television shows, Bret Michaels has been known to go overseas and perform special shows just for our troops. He’s been known to bring the troops onstage and really support them and goes the extra mile to thank them for the sacrifices they make for us and this great nation.

  5. 1. I respect the fact that Bret Michaels and Poison started as a bar band in Pennsylvania and actually worked their way to the top and never had success handed to them like some artists do these days. They worked hard for it and earned it. Over the years Bret stayed true to his style of music and never compromised his sound to what was popular at the time.
    2. Bret Michaels has always been known for being very fun and entertaining as a performer on stage but I recently started watching Rock My RV and was surprised that he actually also managed to find a way to make a show about peoples old run down RV’s seem really entertaining and actually interesting.
    3. Over the years Bret has helped raise money and participated in fundraising events for many great causes. It’s nice to see someone give back so much and he seems to actually care about each and every one of his fans.

  8. This contest has closed so please no more entry submissions. Congratulations to all of our winners, please see the details below:

When you arrive at the venue, please do downstairs to the podium and ask for the House List. Your names will be on there and checked off so please have proper identification. With B.B. King shows there is generally no ticket to claim so I apologize to the collectors of such things.

Should any issue arise with your name, please politely ask for an onsite manager and reference that this contest was done in cooperation with venue marketing and the PiercingMetal site. Once the list is in, there is little help I can offer. I will be at the show myself so if you recognize me please feel free to say hello. It is going to rock.
