The Details: Arkona is a fantastic Pagan/Folk Metal band from Russia and they have visited our shores with the great Korpiklaani and the mighty Turisas over the last couple of years and now it’s their turn to take to the headlining stages of America as a part of their “Pagan” tour. Their sound is one that needs to be experienced in the live sense to be best appreciated and thanks to the fine folks at LiveNation, will be putting some of our ardent supporters into the show for free. Read on below on how you can participate in this sure to be rocking event. Oh and before we forget, they will be having some talented locals opening up for the show called Yonder Realm.

When and Where: Tuesday October 29th at Gramercy Theatre (127 East 23rd St – NYC)

To Participate: I will make this sort of easy and ask you what three bands that have not yet travelled to our shores absolutely need to do so and what would make this a worthwhile show for the Metal Legions. Simple enough right? I will be picking a few names from the responders and letting them know right below their submissions. Be sure to enter your full real name and an email address in the comment form (but not the comment because then it’s visible to the world). We might need to reach you. We also ask that you subscribe to comments to know if we pick yours and to only enter once. The comments are moderated and will not appear immediately after submission. Go get em.

Restrictions: While all contests are open to our regional site readers, Facebook Page likers and Twitter Followers we do look at new responders first in order to give everyone a fair shot at enjoying a show on the provider and us. I do still encourage all to participate because you never know just how many tickets we are offering and when that last person might have won. The main restriction for this one is if you had won any of our contests over the last two weeks you are not eligible (that means Watain, UFO , Ill Nino and Soulfly). Please note that Guest and Anonymous comments while approved are NOT eligible to win the contest. Winners of this contest cannot participate in our contest for The Misfits.

  1. Carpathian Forest from Norway – over the top black metal with lots of blast beats and fast parts but with a lot of black and roll breaks as well. They deliver an intense live show, topless old ladies and all.
Shining from Sweden. The inventors of “suicide black metal” deliver their message around brilliant and sophisticated compositions incorporating old school black metal riffs and vocals, black and roll, and acoustic clean sung passages. The unpredictable stage antics of frontman Niklas Kvarforth and the unflawed guitar work of Peter Huss will make for an unforgetable concert.
Mysticum from Norway. A unique brand of industrial black metal. Dirgy minor tuned guitars and raspy shrieked vocals that scream black metal backed by fast pounding synths and programmed drumbeats that bring you to the goth clubs. This would be one interesting and uniquely unforgetable night. Hope you like Ken!

    1. Sounds like some interesting stuff Brandon so congratulations you have won one of our tickets for Arkona on 10/29. Please stay tuned to the comments for the details on how you claim this at the show.

  2. 1.Kalmah from Finland , they are a melodic death metal band .These finns always have an energy to them that gets you air guitaring and headbanging nonstop. I know I always do . From the keyboards to the fast and furious guitar solos/harmonies and intense growling vocals, this band needs to get out of the “swamp”and come to the states so we can experience them live. 🙂

    2. Einherjer from Norway – Even from the name Einherjer, itself means “those of one army”. If they come and play here in the states the atmosphere with their music would be as if we the crowd are the slain warrriors who are being taken to Valhalla to join odins army. One of the defining features of Einherjer’s sound is frontman Frode Glesnes’s thick, gritty vocals that give off a black metal sound to their songs.Their music has equal parts doom, thrash and epic metal all at once with a defining
    folk-ish feel to it. ‘

    3. Equilibrium from Germany- This band’s music combines elements of folk and symphonic metal. Each song has such energy/speed to it that you cant help but want to headbang and mosh to. Even without distinguishing the German language, the fans can appreciate the great
guitar harmonies, chunky riffing, energetic tempos and guttural vocals that make you want to keep listening to them, and hey maybe one day we can see them bring out their energy to the states!

    1. Congratulations Irina, these are some great suggestions for sure. Let’s hope promoters around The Metal Realms start doing some booking. I will be posting the full details on how to claim your ticket when the contest closes so please stay tuned.

  3. 1. Edge of Sanity – this innovative Swedish Death Metal band is one of the most innovative and constantly evolving bands I’ve ever listened too. It’s nothing short of a shame there music isn’t more known to influence artists here in the states. There’s a lot of original music they create that can inspire other bands to break their boundaries and not sound like shit. This country needs them to hit our shores and shake things up in the metal scene.

2-Ozlem Tekin – This chick from Turkey is brutal. Starting out in the pop scene, when she became popular enough to branch off onto her own she became a huge star in the Turkish metal scene, being one of the only female metal vocalists in the entire country. Her band is tight and the music is brutal, and if she were to come out here people would be shocked in a good way, and blown away.
3- Decaying Purity – This is another Turkish band but they are straight death metal out of the same cookie cutter as Cannibal Corpse. Straight to the point brutal music, and their always evolving stage props make this band a must see, and American fans would be nothing short of happy to hear such brutal music in todays day and age. Put them on a bill with any death metal act and the fans are leaving and going home happy, because they’ll never forget Decaying Purity’s performance on the bill.

    1. Great stuff, you are going to find me investigating what is brewing in Turkey for sure. Congrats on winning one of our tickets to see Arkona on 10/29; Since you did DISQUS with your Twitter, please reply to this with full name. Also watch the comments for the details on how you claim the ticket that night.

  4. Old Man’s Child – I don’t think I need to say much with this one, some of the most unique melodic Black Metal that has ever been written. As far as I know, they have only played a handful of shows live ever.

Thyrfing – Amazing pagan/viking metal with lots of black metal influences. I really don’t know how they aren’t more popular over in the States here.
Skyfire – Upbeat melodic power metal with lots of keyboards, you can’t help but get in a great mood while listening to these guys. They would fit perfectly tour with the likes of Sonata Arctica.

  5. 1. Corvus corax-from germany. This medieval band has over 8 band members. Each member plays all sorts of instruments. But their main one is the bagpipes and once they start playing all in unison you cant help but want to dance. Their energy is what gets the crowd pumped and we metalheads love a band that catches our attention.
2.falkenbach from germany. This band mixes elements of folk and black metal. The lyrics they use for their songs are from old Norse mythology. This band takes you back in time.
    3. Emperor from norway. ..this band hardly comes to the states…and its been too long. This Norwegian black metal band would overpower the whole venue with the way ihsahn growls .

    1. I don;t know where you think that German band can play with all those people but I agree with you on all points and say congrats Alyssa, you have won a ticket to see Arkona at Gramercy on 10/29. Please stay tuned to the comments for one from me that lines out the details on how you claim this.

  6. This contest is closed so please no more entries. Congratulations to all of our winners. On the night of the show please go to the venue box office and ask for the Livenation list. There might be a PiercingMetal reference with it. Should you encounter any difficulty, please politely ask for an onsite manager and reference how this giveaway was done in conjunction with Livenation Marketing and the PiercingMetal site. I will be there as well so if you see me around please say hello.
