The Details: King’s X is one of the best sounding bands that I have ever had the pleasure of seeing in concert or listening to on recordings over the last couple of decades that I have followed them. Those of you who have similar experiences are likely nodding your heads along to the statement and yet despite this there are far too many people that have not a single idea about what this band holds in their musical grasp. With this being the case, I am excited to announce that thanks to the folks at Stage 48, some PiercingMetal fans will be hitting the show for free. Now THAT is a Cinco De Mayo of Mighty Proportions. Read more on how you get in on this.

When and Where: Sunday , May 5th at Stage 48 (605 West 48th Street).

To Participate: Since King’s X is such a rock solid band with so many amazing tunes, I want to know just how important they are to you as a fan of Hard Rock and Melodic Rock music. It’s not to give my readers an easy one after all the brain digging these contests cause them. Just remember to put your full real name and an email address into the comment form (but NOT the comment itself) so we can reach you and it never hurts to subscribe to the comments for the duration of the contest. I will be replying to winners directly to let them know that they won. Bring it on.

Restrictions: While all PiercingMetal.com contests are open to our regional site readers, we do look at new responders first in order to give everyone a fair shot at enjoying a show on the provider and us. Of course we still encourage all to respond because you never know just how many tickets we are offering. At present we have a lot of contests running but you just might be lucky based on the overall response. Please note that “Anonymous” or “Guest” submissions while approved are not eligible to win.

  1. King’s X are one of my favorite bands. I always appreciated what they did but never really took to loving them until I went to see them on a whim about 4 years ago. I was absolutely floored by their performance – I really do believe they are the best three guys can sound by themselves, without electronic assistance, pedals, triggers, etc. The 3-part vocal harmonies are amazing, and the musicianship all around is superb, not to mention that you can tell they actually get so much out of what they do emotionally and put it right back in. Dug Pinnick’s speech in the extended version of “Over My Head” was seriously one of the most inspiring things I’ve ever heard in my life, and at a time when I was struggling to find inspiration to stay dedicated to my musical endeavors it totally changed my outlook and gave me a whole new sense of positivity, and for that I am eternally grateful. Few other bands inspire me on this level to be a better musician or be more passionate about what I’m doing.

  2. King’s X has been an important band to me for a few different reasons. First and foremost, I have a huge amount of respect and admiration for Dug Pinnick as a vocalist. Being a singer myself, I was first drawn to King’s X by his phenomenal voice and great melodies. I also really enjoy the complex harmonies sung by all 3 guys together. Not many bands can pull off vocal harmonies like that. On top of that, they’re all great musicians and I really enjoy the guitar playing of Ty Tabor. He might not be an extremely showy player like say, Yngwie or Steve Vai, but his phrasing is great. They put on an amazing live performance and can’t wait to see them again!

Winners should bring proper identification to the venue on the night of show and ask for the House Guest List (I’m not sure if there will be a PiercingMetal reference or not). Should you encounter any difficulties, please ask for an onsite manager and point out that this contest was done in conjunction with the Stage 48 Marketing team and PiercingMetal.com; Once I submit the names there is nothing more I can personally do. I will be at the show however and if you recognize me do please say hello.
