The Scoop: Soilwork were formed back in 1995 under the name Inferior Breed and it was good that they changed their name the following year because there is nothing inferior about the level of throttling Metal that the band puts out there. Their latest album is “The Living Infinite” and it continues the trend of mind warping Metal mania and it is so cool that they will be making a stop in NYC this week. As a matter of fact the tour will also find the likes of Blackguard, Jeff Loomis, The Browning and Wretched (both have dropped off the tour and been replaced by Bonded By Blood and Hatchet) to make this a nonstop ride from the moment the show begins. To make it even cooler those fine folks at Livenation want some of the PiercingMetal readers in the venue and how could I refuse their offer so check below on how you can make Friday a night like no other.

When and Where: Friday, March 15th @ 6pm at Gramercy Theatre (127 East 23rd St. NYC). This show is an early one based on all the bands so arrive early and get the most out of it.

To Participate: Let’s have some fun here. I want you readers to build me a Gothenburg Metal band. Yep, you read me correctly. I’m talking lead vocals, twin guitar assault, bass, drums and keyboards if you deem it necessary. Tell me who is your ultimate Gothenburg Super Group and why this is the case but please use musicians that are among the living (if you’ll pardon the terrible Anthrax joke). I am going to pick the most pummeling lineup from the responders so get to it. I will be letting the winners know right below their comments if they have won. Remember to put your full name and email address in the comment form but not the comment itself and it never hurts to subscribe to the comments so you will know if you win or not.

Restrictions: While all contests are open to our regional site readers, we look at new responders first in order to give everyone a fair shot at enjoying a show on the provider and us. Of course we still encourage all to respond because you never know just how many tickets we are offering.

As you might expect, with such a loaded bill of fantastic bands, there are a number of albums that you can drop down your hard-earned cash on. I recommend these for sure.

  5. My Gothenburg Supergroup.

    Vocals: Peter Tagtgren (Hypocrisy)
Guitar: Anders Bjorler (At The Gates)
    Guitar: Jesper Stromblad (In Flames)
Bass: Jonas Bjorler (At The Gates)
Drums: Dan Swano (Edge of Sanity)

These musicians are without question, one of THE most influential in Sweden and throughout the world. Peter and Dan has participated in several projects and are known for being one of the top music producers in the country. The Bjorler brothers of course, brought that fresh death metal sound to the underground with At The Gates and the album “Slaughter of the Soul” is considered one of the most influential extreme metal albums of all time (with thousands of bands ripping them off after their breakup in 1996. Funny thing along those bands would be the famous Soilwork… *cough cough!* 😀 ) and Jesper was the mastermind behind In Flames till 2010 he decided to leave due to personal problems and health issues. Well, that’s a very brief story of each musician, I can go all day with them and even more! Together would be potential to the world.

  7. The Soilwork contest is closed so please no more entry submissions. Winners have been notified under their posts and should bring proper ID to the box office at Gramercy Theatre and ask for the Livenation list. Your ticket will be there. Please ask for an onsite manager should you encounter any difficulties and cite that this contest was sanctioned by Livenation in conjunction with PiercingMetal. Enjoy the show, I should be wandering around doing my thing at some point.
