Win A Ticket To See Asia @ B.B. King’s On 9/2014

Poster - Asia - 2014

The Details: Asia is in my opinion one of the first Rock supergroups or at least one of the first that I came to know about and was originally made up of four incredible Progressive Rock musicians such as Steve Howe, Carl Palmer, John Wetton and Geoff Downes for formed in 1981. The bands that these luminaries hailed from were Yes; Emerson, Lake & Palmer; King Crimson and The Buggles. Each an outstanding player in their own right and while one would have expected a level of Progressive Rock that broke all boundaries, the band instead gave us a solid Hard Rock and commercially viable album that first was given some public awareness based on the single “Heat Of The Moment”. A song that has remained a favorite of mine since I first heard it. I only followed the first few years of the band and they had numerous lineup changes until their 2006 reunion and I must admit that I have never ever seen them in concert before. With that all said it that makes me excited to announce that thanks to the fine folks in the venue Marketing team, that PiercingMetal will be letting some of their most ardent supporters into this show for free. Read on to learn how to get in on this one.

  1. 1. The debut ASIA album was the first record i bought with my own cash. Damn, i was young but i was sure hooked once i saw “Heat Of The Moment” video on MTV.

    2. The magnitude of musicianship in this band is unbelievable, yet their songs are accessible enough where one doesn’t have to be into the progressive rock thing to “get it.”

    3. Carl Palmer is one of my absolute favorite rock drummers and i need to see him play live. Let’s face it, these rock gods aren’t getting younger. I’ve followed Palmer’s awesome pre-ELP history in The Crazy World Of Arthur Brown & Atomic Rooster.

    4. KInd of a bummer that Steve Howe isn’t with them making it the original 4. However, i did see YES play this past summer therefore i feel fulfilled. Further fulfillment is the fact that i’m seeing KING CRIMSON tomorrow. Of course, John Wetton was in KIng Crimson and i absolutely worship the RED album. If it weren’t for ASIA and their “supergroup” status, i probably wouldn’t have sought out the members’ brilliant past musical histories.

    1. Wow Phil that is some good stuff so let me say congratulations on winning one of our tickets to see ASIA at B.B. King’s on Saturday. Please stay tuned to the comments for one from me that closes out the contest and informs you of the details you need to know on how to claim it.

  2. I don’t know where to begin. But seeing Asia would be an amazing follow up to seeing King Crimson tonight. There was always the connection of prog rock that sort of leaked into the 80s. I even remember they had an MTV contest to see Asia in Asia.
    2. 2 words, Carl Palmer. The guy is a master on the drums. I still find myself watching old footage from ELP at the Isle of Wight fest in the early 70s. I had the pleasure of seeing ELP back in 1992.
3.i am interested to see how the new guitarist ,Sam Coulson compares to the legend Steve Howe. Those are some incredible shoes to fill but I am sure whoever these astounding musicians got must be quite incredible.

    1. Part of me hates you James for seeing King Crimson while I toil away on contests, tour announcements and more here at the Metal Command HQ but instead of being petty I will say “Congratulations on winning one of our tickets to see ASIA at the legendary B.B. King’s on Saturday. Please stay tuned to the comments for one from me that closes out the contest and informs you of the details you need to know on how to claim it.

  3. Alright my friends this contest is 100% closed so no more submissions. Congrats to our pair of winners because not only are you guys going but you are allowed to bring a friend along as well so please do spread the musical love. On the night of the show just go to the podium downstairs at the venue and ask for the venue house guest list. Your name will be there and you will need ID. Should you encounter any issues please ask for a venue manager who will be able to sort it out for you. I expect to be there as well so say hello if you recognize me.
