Fans of Bruce Wayne’s butler Alfred Pennyworth will be excited that the Epix Original Series “Pennyworth” has been granted a second season. The show takes place before he becomes the gentlemen’s gentlemen to the Dark Knight and is a spy-intrigue thriller sort of thing. The second season trailer was just released and I’ve embedded it for your perusal along with some premise and casting that were sourced from provided publicity. Take a look.

The Premise: Pennyworth explores the early life of the titular Wayne family butler, Alfred Pennyworth, a former British SAS soldier who is forming his own security company in an alternate London which combines aspects of London in the 1950s and 1960s with invented events and practices (for example, televised public executions). Alfred becomes a target of the Raven Society, a group conspiring to take over the British government, and begins working against them alongside American agents of the No Name League, Thomas Wayne and Martha Kane, the future parents of Bruce Wayne/Batman.

The Cast and Characters:
Jack Bannon as Alfred Pennyworth
Ben Aldridge as Thomas Wayne
Ryan Fletcher as Dave Boy
Hainsley Lloyd Bennett as Bazza
Paloma Faith as Bet Sykes
Jason Flemyng as Lord Harwood
Emma Paetz as Martha Kane
Polly Walker as Peggy Sykes
Jessica Ellerby as The Queen
Danny Webb as John Ripper

PiercingMetal Thoughts: So before I get too far along I should say that I am not a subscriber to the Epix network and since this is the only place to watch the series I have not seen a single episode. I will admit that it looked interesting to me and this new trailer made me smile and think of the classic British series “The Avengers”. The one with Steed and Mrs. Peel as opposed to Iron Man and Captain America. It’s my hope that Netflix gets the series eventually or maybe even on whatever Warner is planning on doing with the programming that once was on the DC Universe service. I’d surely be interested in catching it but since my existing Spectrum bill is far too high there is no way that I am adding another premium channel to my account. What about you readers? Did you like this trailer and are you already receiving this network? Chime in down below as I’d love to get some insight from you on this one.
