Warner Brothers: “Joker” Final Trailer (Opening 10/4/2019)

When I first discussed the soon to be opening film “Joker” here on PiercingMetal’s Pop Culture focuses (seen HERE), I had pointed out that outside the success of “Wonder Woman”, “Aquaman” and “SHAZAM!” films (all three of which I loved); The DC Extended Universe is a hot mess. Since that time there has been less and less discussion of the connected universe and one has to assume that they have given up on the idea. This isn’t good in my humble opinion because not only did Marvel Studios make it work, they are responsible for the highest grossing film of all time with “Avengers: Endgame” (celebrated HERE). A “Joker” film connected to the others might be more interesting but this is apparently not but that being said the Final Trailer was just recently revealed so let’s take a look.

The Premise: In 1981, a failed stand-up comedian turns to a life of crime and chaos in Gotham City, slowly rising to become a frightening legend.

The Cast/Characters:
Joaquin Phoenix as Arthur Fleck/Joker
Robert De Niro as a talk show host
Zazie Beetz as Sophie Dumond
Bill Camp and Shea Whigham as a cops in the Gotham City Police Department
Frances Conroy as Penny Fleck
Brett Cullen as Thomas Wayne
Glenn Fleshler as a comedian
Dante Pereira-Olson as Bruce Wayne
Douglas Hodge as Alfred Pennyworth
Marc Maron as Ted Marco
Brian Tyree Henry as a nurse
Bryan Callen as a stripper
Josh Pais has been cast in an undisclosed role

PiercingMetal Thoughts: The final trailer raised a little more interest in the film for me but then again is he REALLY The Joker at all or just an inspiration? I say this because a lot of analysis has gone on with other websites and V-loggers who all say that the age difference between the main character and a young Bruce Wayne is too great. October is still far away and this will open during the NY Comic Con so I will bnot be checking it out on opening weekend but perhaps the matinee in the weeks that follow. This all depends on the initial critics whom I trust with such things opinion on it. I don’t usually listen and make my own assessment but there are some who’s voices I value above the rest. What did you readers think about this? Are you curious? Concerned? Excited or Apathetic? Chime in down below and I will see you soon. Same Bat-time, same Bat-channel (sorry I couldn’t resist). Ciao.
