Today: Gene Simmons Signs “Me, Inc.” @ Barnes & Noble Tribeca (10/21/2014)

There have been a lot of cool book signings over the last few weeks and I recently noted that both guitarist Joe Perry and the legendary Billy Idol had done these at our regional Barnes & Noble outlets and now its time for Gene Simmons to once again grace NYC with his presence as he makes an appearance to sign copies of his latest tome – a book entitled “Me, Inc.: Build an Army of One, Unleash Your Inner Rock God, Win in Life and Business”. Check out the cover.

Book - Gene Simmons - Me describes the book: “The fact that KISS is one of the most successful rock bands in the world is no accident. From the beginning Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley had a clear-cut vision of what they wanted to do and how they wanted to operate KISS as a business well before they ever first took the stage. Since deciding with Paul to manage the band themselves, Simmons has proved himself to be a formidable businessman, having sold over 100 million CDs and DVDs worldwide, overseen over 3,000 licensed merchandise items, and starred in the longest running celebrity reality show to date. More impressive is that he handles all of his business ventures on his own—no personal assistant, few handlers, and as little red tape as possible.

In Me, Inc., Simmons shares a lifetime of field-tested and hard-won business advice that will provide readers with the tools needed to build a solid business strategy, harness the countless tools available in the digital age, network like hell, and be the architect for the business entity that is you. Inspired by The Art of War, the book dispenses Simmons’ in-depth insights via thirteen specific principles for success based on his own experience, triumphs, and instructional failures in business—from finding the confidence within yourself that’s necessary to get started, to surrounding yourself with the right people to partner with and learn from, to knowing when to pull the plug and when to double-down. These thirteen principles are a skeleton key into a world of success, freedom, peace of mind and, most importantly, financial success.”

As a former business student and one that not only was a working musician but now a freelance photo journalist and technologist, I think that this book will have some solid insight to the world of business so I am looking forward to being there for this signing. The event details can be found via the link below and make sure you check in with the store before lugging anything that you will not be allowed to get signed at this appearance. Generally speaking, the bookstores are all about selling the book and letting you get a signed copy. Nothing superfluous is welcome as this is not a convention environment. At the time of this posting I do not know about the minimum amount that you can purchase of the book but the last time with Paul I think it was about ten copies. I say bring a credit card and a book bag if you plan on getting ten copies of this item. My plan is to be there as I was also asked by a couple of friends to snag them a copy if I was able to. Let’s see how I am feeling once the coffee hits me as I had the crushing Doro concert last night and that was a lot of fun. I do always enjoy these KISS related events and this particular one will happen in NYC on the night before KISS released their sophomore album “Hotter Than Hell”. That album will be forty years old tomorrow so perhaps you want to wish him congratulations on that as well should you get the chance at the signing table.
