The Dead and Company Announce Summer 2017 Dates

I guess the end of Fall is a little early to announce summer tour dates for the coming year but that is what we have to discuss at the moment as the group Dead and Company has recently announced their Summer 2017 dates. Actually if you are going to be a stickler about it, the tour begins at the end of Spring and continues on into the early weeks of the hopefully hot months.

The Press Release: (kinda sorta)
The Dead and Company, a band fronted by John Mayer and three founding members of the Grateful Dead, will return again next year and just the other day have announced a five week tour of the United States. As you see listed below, this run will be only about “19” dates and begin at Las Vegas before it ends with two nights at Chicago’s Wrigley Field. The band began their own new musical adventure at the famed Madison Square Garden in October 2015 showcasing a continuation of the Grateful Dead legacy only a few short months after the legendary band performed the last of their “Fare Thee Well” concerts. The full band lineup is John Mayer (vocals and lead guitar), Bob Weir (guitar and vocals) with drummers Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann. The sound is completed by Oteil Burbridge (bass) and Jeff Chimenti (keyboards). The two musicians originally hail from The Allman Brothers Band and RatDog respectively. I’ve culled together the dates and venues in the cities that they will be visiting. Time to mark down your calendars if you are a fan of this music.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: I’m going to try and catch the show that takes place in NYC at Citi Field since I’ve only ever caught one concert there before and wish to do it again. For the curious, that was for the legendary Paul McCartney where I attended as a fan in the mix (but still scribbled together a show review for you that you can check out on THIS LINK). Over the course of my years I’ve only ever been what can be called a casual fan of the Grateful Dead but as a musician I can appreciate their place in history and in my grown up years have come to enjoy a lot more of their material. What do you readers think about this tour and the group existing for that matter? Will you be hitting one, two or three or more shows? I know Dead fans used to follow the group around on their jaunts but let’s face it, we’re all much older now so that might not be as easy to do. You can let me know your thoughts down in the comments section below.
