The press releases loaded with touring announcements just keep on coming as our no longer new year gets into gear and this one recently arrived to broadcast the headlining tour by The Contortionist and the bands that are supporting them. Check out the poster and full press release below, then I will return to close this out.
The Press Release:
(January 19, 2016) – The Contortionist will hit the road yet again this spring in continued support of their latest release. Monuments, Entheos and Sleepmakeswaves will serve as support through the end of April. “Over the months of touring behind Language, we would imagine an ideal lineup and the same names kept coming up,” says keyboardist Eric Guenther.
“We always get psyched on tours with huge variety and dynamic shifts through every band. The spring tour is going to be stacked, no exception. We are hitting the road with our friends on a tour we have been working to get together since ‘Language’ came out. We can’t wait to bring this spectacle around the U.S.”
The Contortionist recently released a “Rediscovered” version of Language. The new version contains four re-worked tracks recorded and engineered by John Douglass and mixed/mastered by Jamie King. The rediscovered tracks are accompanied by four all new music videos for the same tracks. Two of those videos can be seen below.
The video for “Language: Rediscovered” is premiered exclusively via Alternative Press Magazine. “This song was the result of our music naturally leading itself through new ideas developed onstage and in rehearsal,” said Guenther. “In a way, you could think of it as an artistically selfish move. We want these songs to continue their evolution and life. I can’t wait to do something like this again. Reinterpreting the songs after months of experimenting onstage keeps the experience and energy fresh for everyone that celebrates them with us.”
Directed by Erez Bader, these four videos are by far the most intimate depiction of the band to date. The band previously premiered the first rediscovered video for the track “The Parable” via Prog Magazine earlier this month. The band released two original videos from the Language LP for “Language I: Intuition” and “Primordial Sound,” both directed by Corey Norman.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: So I have yet to see ANY of these bands and based on how many shows I see each year it always makes me smile when there is something coming around that will be a complete musical education to me. Has this ever happened to you? I mean, for me it’s like a complete discovery as every melody hits you from the live stage and I have to assume that it makes you feel the same way. I’m hoping to be there at the Gramercy Theatre show if at all possible and I wonder what you readers think of this particular tour endeavor. Let me know in the comments section below.
