The 2015 Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame Inductees Are…

You’ll have to pardon my neglecting to put up a post for the nomination process for the 2015 Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame Nominees like I had done in the past but somehow my timing was off and then 100 other “need to do” items came up and well here we are. The good part is that the nominees names are all set in stone and can be shared with you readers as we officially welcome the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Class for 2015. Check them out below and then I will discuss my own thoughts with you.

2015 Inductees: Ringo Starr, The “5” Royales, The Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Green Day, Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, Lou Reed, Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble, Bill Withers.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: Now that KISS is in the Hall, I really don’t have much of a complaining platform to stand upon anymore but I will say that its once again disappointing to find a band like Deep Purple being ignored once more. It’s true that there were a lot of different incarnations of Purple sure but considering the Hall inducted every member of The E Street Band last year and the same with The Grateful Dead some years ago this cannot be viewed as confusing to their voting staff about which one to honor. The bands music is vital to the building of what became Heavy Metal music in a lot of ways. I am so happy to find Joan Jett and The Blackhearts making it in because they gave us so much when they first hit the scene and what a ride it has been since. Two venerated legends making the cut in Stevie Ray and Lou are givens but its a surprise they waited so long for Stevie who left us far too soon many years ago. Okay so I do sort of question adding Ringo as a solo artist because while I am a lifelong Beatles fan and enjoy his solo work I never regarded it as impacting as that of John, Paul and George. Don’t be mad at me because I love what he does but think perhaps the Hall just wanted to get all of THe Beatles honored at this point. I also love the first few albums by Green Day but in no way think that they merit being in the Hall on their first available year to do it. There are so many more groups ahead of them in terms of influence and impact but that is the way this place goes. The rules change often.

Now it’s your turn to let me know what you think about this years selections. Are you happy with the latest inductees or does it set fire to your hind quarters once again. I always love hearing who you feel should be inducted but please let’s be realistic and leave the likes of Slayer, Judas Priest and Motorhead out of the mix because I think we shall all be long dead before bands like those are placed in this triangular shaped museum in Cleveland. Of course I’m a fan of all three of those groups but feel that more Rap groups will be in the place before they are even considered. My three cents. Let me know what you think in the comments, as I’ve left them open for you to do so.
