The Press Release:
NEW YORK, NY—Following up on the British rocker’s appearance last week on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and the release of his EP The Underrated Youth (now available everywhere) which debuted at #6 on the UK Official Albums Chart, Z2 Comics announce the publication of YUNGBLUD’s debut graphic novel, The Twisted Tales of the Ritalin Club this week, which has already sold through the majority of its initial print run.
“Z2 were so supportive of everything I wanted to do creatively and elevated me so inspirationally that I was able to fulfill my vision in its complete entirety” says YUNGBLUD. “I can’t wait to do the next one with them!”
From the beautifully eccentric mind of music sensation YUNGBLUD comes the Twisted Tales of the Ritalin Club! All pupils attending Blackheart’s Boarding School must be punctual, masked, and heavily medicated. The displaying of superpowers is strictly forbidden. Any pupils encountering YUNGBLUD or any member of his so-called “Ritalin Club” are to seek a teacher immediately. Failure to comply with any of the above rules will result in execution.
“I wanted to build a universe that people can directly and literarily fall into. I wanted to tell a story and play on the imaginations of the people listening to my music and in this community. For me writing it, it was just another means of escaping. I used to read and love comic books when I was younger, so of course I was gonna write one,” explains YUNGBLUD. Skillet will sign their brand-new graphic novel “Eden” at the famous Forbidden Planet Comics. This comes care of the folks at Z2 Comics so come on out and meet the band and maybe even get a photo with them.
I’ve shared the plots and the plans from the headquarters of those folks behind Z2 Comics when they announced “The Ghost Of Ohio” (based on an Andy Black from Black Veil Brides story) and when the band Skillet was lining out the upcoming “Eden” Graphic Novel. Now its time for the legendary Grateful Dead to get their story told on the illustrated page. Read on down below to the full press release about “Grateful Dead Origins”.
The Press Release:
With the recent success of partnerships with BabyMetal, Andy Black and Skillet, Z2 Comics continues to solidify their place as the premier creator of music-affiliated graphic novels. The company has entered in to their largest partnership to date creating a graphic novel for the iconic Grateful Dead. “Grateful Dead Origins” takes an in depth and personal look at the formation of one of the most important American rock bands of all time, exploring the early days of Jerry Garcia, Phil Lesh, Bob Weir, Pigpen, Bill Kreutzmann and Mickey Hart. The story of the band’s transformation from a bar band performing as the Warlocks to becoming the creators of their own sound and forefathers for the jamband culture is depicted in the original story written by Chris Miskiewicz and illustrated by Noah Van Sciver. The graphic novel will be scheduled for release in early 2020.
“Grateful Dead Origins” will be available in a standard edition and a limited run collectors deluxe edition. The standard edition will come in a softcover version that will feature an exclusive download of Grateful Dead music from their early years to serve as a companion to the graphic novel. The limited run collector’s deluxe edition will come in a hardcover, oversized, individually-numbered coffee table edition featuring prints and autographed by the comic creators. It will also come with a selection of unreleased Grateful Dead music from the era on vinyl. The deluxe edition will be available for pre-order at www.z2comics.com/shop/grateful-dead. Pre-orders are now available for all configurations of “Grateful Dead Origins”. Continue reading Z2 Comics Announces “Grateful Dead Origins” Graphic Novel For 2020→
It seems like more and more music artists of the Rock Realm are tossing their hat into the comic creator ring and I couldn’t be happier about it. We’ve learned of Andy Black’s offering “The Ghost Of Ohio” some months ago and then there was a Starset graphic novel “Prox Transmissions” as well. Now the folks at Z2 Comics have announced a collaboration with the band Skillet and you can learn all about that down below. Enjoy.
The Press Release:
Coming on the heels of Apocrypha: The Legend Of BabyMetal and the upcoming The Ghost Of Ohio graphic novel, Z2 Comics is pleased to announce their next title is a collaborative partnership with multi-platinum, GRAMMY-nominated rockers Skillet. Eden: A Skillet Graphic Novel is based on an original story idea created by Skillet frontman John Cooper alongside the creative team of Z2 Comics: Josh Frankel and Sridhar Reddy. Writers Alex Paknadel and Dan Watters of Random Shock Studios are writing the comic with Cooper. Artist Chris Hunt created the cover and will be working on the pages of the comic scheduled for release late Summer 2019.
“I am beyond thrilled about ‘Eden.’ It has always been a dream of mine to create a comic. Comics are still an important part of my life today and I can now share that love with my children with the release of this book. In many ways, this graphic novel is a natural extension of Skillet’s career. It is about perseverance, unlikely heroes, and faith in what you believe. I hope that the fans love it!” exclaims John Cooper of Skillet. Continue reading Z2 Comics & Skillet Announce “Eden” – A Skillet Graphic Novel→
Greetings Readers and welcome back to the continuing presentations from the 2019 New York Comic Con. I’m now up to Day Two of the offerings but if you missed any of the Day One stuff you are so going to want to click HERE first to enjoy all of the chapters that preceded this one. I say this since I tend to refer back to pieces across the journey and I don’t want you to fall behind. Go ahead and look, I’ll wait – welcome back 🙂 So after Day One ended, I headed up to Paul Booth’s Last Rites Gallery to see the unveiling of a brand new graphic novel that is based on story ideas from Black Veil Brides singer Andy Black. Check out that summary by clicking THIS LINK.
To start off my day, I hit a press conference, panel or whatever that was called “From The Stage To The Page” and this was going to feature notable musical talent who have all worked on the comic book medium. Among these artists are Steve Aoki, Andy Black, Lights and the legendary Darryl McDaniels (aka DMC). Here are a few visuals from the panel, I did not record anything because I don’t think that ReedPOP likes that stuff. Don’t want to mess with the organizers after all.
