We recently shared the news about the plans for 2022 from the Toy Association and helped broadcast their news about the Interim Toy Fair for 2021 which will be held in May of next year. See that announcement over on “The Chronicles of Piercing Ken” by clicking HERE. Earlier today, the group revealed the finalists for the annual Toy Of The Year Awards and we’ll talk a little more about that after the logo.
For those who are newer to the toy industry pieces, the TOTY Awards are akin to The Oscars for films and as a member of the media who has attended Toy Fair for ten straight years now, I always look to do some kind of post about the awards. Since PiercingMetal readers can call action figure and collectible fans among their number, I am sharing those two groups of finalists for your review. The full list will be shared with a link over to “The Chronicles” down at the close. Continue reading The Toy Association Reveals The 2021 TOTY Finalists→
I’ve been attending Toy Fair for a few years now as a member of the press and it’s been great sharing the latest and greatest action figure and science fiction or super-hero related movie properties with you on the website. If you are somehow just joining us as a reader of the posts, you might want to check out some of the historical coverages via THIS LINK. It’s been a blast. Now the other day a notice arrived informing the press about the nominations for the 2017 Toy Of The Year and all the categories that are making it up this year. I cast my vote and what I am here to tell you in this narrative is that you as a consumer can also use your voting power and help select the very best from the companies that have been nominated. How cool is that. Check out the categories and the nominees – The voting link will be in my closing thoughts.

2015 marks the fifth straight year that PiercingMetal has been one of the attending media representatives reporting on the wonderful finds at the Toy Fair and sharing it all with our readership. This years event was the 112th and was again being held at the cavernous Javits Center. I would again be joined by my stalwart comrade in arms, Mr. Skeleton Pete (who will have many postings of his own on his site) and as done in some previous reports, I will begin my coverage of this incredible event by presenting the winners of the esteemed TOTY for 2015 (that’s “Toy Of The Year” if you didn’t see the title for some reason). My narrative will be light here so I can let the images do the talking. Enjoy.
As you will notice by many of the winning items below, Lego was the clear victor and had risen above the competition across a number of categories. There are a lot of educational items and things for the little ones which will def appeal to those readers with smaller children coming up first.
One of the things that I always like to showcase first when we begin the annual Toy Fair coverage is to present to you all the winners of the “TOTY” or “Toy Of The Year” and with that being said, here are the 2014 winners of the acclaimed award. They get set up right outside the press area so its easy for me to snag some images about these highlights and let you indulge in them outside of the main expo features. Take a look, there was some neat stuff that won last year.
The range of these particular toys are gauged at what is considered the best board game, best for boys or girls or both, best preschool item and best educational item. Some of the stuff was geared at a younger audience but that is alright by me since so many of my friends have little ones these days. My hope is that this particular post guides them to some quality items for those kids. Starting off is a “Minion Dave” talking action figure from the film “Despicable Me 2”. You cannot go wrong with minions right?
