As it’s been awhile since we’ve done a proper ticket giveaway contest I figured there was no better show to get back into practice with than the return of Kamelot to NYC and their wonderful Finnish supporting acts of Sonata Arctica and Battle Beast. We’re well past our 250th overall contest and are closing in on a milestone number of tickets being dished out. Let’s get down to business.
The Details: When I launched PiercingMetal back in 2005, one of the greatest things about doing this kind of thing was getting to learn more about new and exciting bands. Back in our early days we did just that and not only was I witnessing the awesome from bands like Kamelot and Sonata Arctica, I have had numerous chats with them over the years and consider them vital parts of this outlets growth and positive support of Metal. I am fortunate for our positive exchanges and absolutely honored by the chance to offer our lucky diehards a ticket to this sure to be extraordinary show. When you add the might of Battle Beast as well, this is just a win, win, win sort of night. Now onto the finer points and how to participate.
The Details: Anime NYC is a brand-new convention that is dedicated to the Pop Culture phenomena of Anime, Manga and other related Japanese entertainment. It’s a three-day event that will overwhelm the senses and delight each and every attendee based on the special events, special guests and screenings, available products and scores of incredible cosplay. If you’ve followed the Official PiercingMetal Instagram at all, you know full well that we just love the convention circuit and do our best to support amazing events such as this one. Now, thanks to the fine folks at Leftfield Media, my convention minded Anime friends will have the chance to win a Weekend Pass to the convention (and this means ALL THREE DAYS of it). It’s our first-ever convention giveaway and according to my record keeping, will be the 250th Contest done by the PiercingMetal.com website so that’s rather awesome if I do say so myself. I’ve lined out what I am asking you to do and provided suitable guidelines for this one. Let’s go.

The Details: There are many who referred to Cactus as “The American Led Zeppelin” and those are some seriously big words to stand with if you are a band but when you consider the fact that this powerhouse quartet that came to be with members of The Vanilla Fudge, Mitch Ryder’s Detroit Wheels and The Amboy Dukes. The original lineups presence upon the music scene was not that long but their power and sound would resonate for decades to follow and find them influencing the likes of Van Halen, The Black Crowes, Montrose and even the mighty Anvil. In 2013 we find the band featuring two original members with Carmine Appice and Jim McCarty who are joined by the talented Jimmy Kunes (vocals), Pete Bremy (bass) and Randy Pratt (harmonica) and thanks to the fine folks at B.B. King’s, we are going to put some lucky PiercingMetal fans into the show for free. Read below on how to participate.
When and Where: Wednesday, September 14th at B.B. King Blues Club 7:30pm (237 West 42nd Street NYC)
To Participate: In one of my reviews of the bands concerts I am pretty sure that it was mentioned how we were latecomers to the Cactus sound ourselves but really what we were seeing. I’ve caught them numerous times right here at the B.B. King’s venue and I want you all to take a chance in this contest so you can also get with the program. Of course if you are a lifer to their stuff this one will be easier for you. Tell me three reasons you enjoy what this band is all about if you are aware of them or three reasons that you need to be at this show if you are still in need of a schooling. If you need to merely discuss the various members (hint hint Carmine Appice should be a whole lot of stuff to say) you can do that. You can name your three favorite albums and tell me a little about why each is a favorite or perhaps a few past concert recollections. You can add what we are all in store for if we attend here in NYC. Just make it a little interesting. Make them solid to read more than just a plain old “because he rules man” because that is just too un-original and boring and this stuff remains as good site reading going forward. I’ll be responding to the comments that I like most right below their answer. Please note this is for a single ticket only and no plus one requests will be honored. Sorry. Hey if you win you can always help your friend pay for a ticket or buy them something to drink inside the venue. Continue reading Win A Ticket To See Cactus @ B.B. King Blues Club on 9/14/2016→

The Scoop: Fathom Events and Saban Films are thrilled to bring the premiere of Rob Zombie’s 31, to select cinemas nationwide on Thursday, September 1 for a twisted one-night event.
From the visionary mind of Rob Zombie (House of 1000 Corpses, The Devil’s Rejects and Halloween) comes the horrific story of five carnival workers who are kidnapped the night before Halloween and held hostage in a large compound. At the mercy of their captors, they are forced to play a twisted game of life or death called 31. For the next 12 hours they must fight for their lives against an endless parade of homicidal maniacs in “the deadliest game since Saw.” (Steve Barton, Dread Central)
Written and directed by Zombie and starring Sheri Moon Zombie (The Devil’s Rejects, Halloween), Golden Globe nominee Malcolm McDowell (Mozart in the Jungle, A Clockwork Orange), Jeff Daniel Phillips (The Lords of Salem) and Meg Foster (They Live) this newest feature further cements Zombie’s creative accomplishments in the cinema world.
