I really thought I had seen it all when Hasbro unveiled their “Ectotron”, a mashup of their classic Transformers license and “The Ghostbusters” most famous conveyance – The Ecto-1. If you don’t know what I am talking about just click HERE to see what I mean. Now, the fine folks at DC Collectibles (a big favorite of ours in terms of their action figures) has revealed the “Mikey as Batman” which is Michelangelo of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as Batman. Take a look at the full press release below and the image were were serviced with.
As we are a few weeks away from the 2019 “Free Comic Book Day”, I wanted to take a few minutes of your time to talk up some of the issues that most interested me. Now I pretty much lean towards the superhero and science fiction titles if anything but as I glanced at the numerous free provisions that will be out there on that first Saturday in May, noticed some others that were a definite curiousity. I’ve snagged the images from the Official FCDB Website but if you want a deeper overview of what each title is about you should click over to them care of THIS LINK. My plan for this narrative is to group the issues into the “Must Have”, “Would Like To Have” and are “Somewhat Curious” about. Let’s go.
MUST HAVE: My “MUST” have list is a little longer than I anticipated for this years FCBD and of course I don’t know what my local retailer is limiting customers to. If I can snag “10” and these are all on the shelves I am good to go because with “Avengers” being a hot commodity thanks to the “Avengers: Endgame” film opening up soon this will likely disappear from the shelves. “Deadly Class” has a hot show, and “Spawn” is getting a new movie and who doesn’t love a little “Spider-Man” at the end of the day. A big list but that’s bound to happen.

The Press Release:
Nickelodeon today released the first trailer for its all-new animated series, Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which follows the band of brothers as they discover new powers and encounter a mystical world they never knew existed beneath the streets of New York City. The 2D-animated series, which blends action and comedy and features a dynamic fresh look, debuts later this year on Nickelodeon.
The series stars the voice talent of Omar Miller (Ballers) as Raphael, Ben Schwartz (Parks and Recreation) as Leonardo, Josh Brener (Silicon Valley) as Donatello, Brandon Mychal Smith (You’re The Worst) as Michelangelo, Kat Graham (The Vampire Diaries) as April O’Neil and Eric Bauza (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) as Splinter. WWE Superstar John Cena lends his voice as villain, Baron Draxum, an alchemist warrior mutant who seeks to turn all of humanity into mutants.
Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reimagines the iconic series and breathes new life into the classic characters, with jagged-shelled Raphael as a snapping turtle, wielding twin tonfas as his weapons; Leonardo as a red-eared slider, using an ōdachi sword; Donatello as a soft-shell turtle, sporting a tech-bo staff; and Michelangelo as a box turtle, arming himself with a kusari-fundo. Along for the adventure is the Turtles’ most trusted ally, April O’Neil, a street savvy native New Yorker, and Splinter, father figure and sensei to the Turtles. Today is the “Free Comic Book Day” for 2017 and there are a whole lot of awesome titles to secure for absolutely nothing. I hit my neighborhood shop Galaxy Comics in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn a short time ago and rushed back to showcase images of what is out there and that you should still be able to find providing you act fast. Here we go.
As we go through the stuff that I observed at today’s FCBD, I figured I would speak up on a few of them as the visuals go by but I will admit that I didn’t know every single title that was available today. This wouldn’t be a problem with the two offerings by Marvel and their “Guardians” title and the “Secret Empire” one. Each of these has a second story for fans to enjoy. Never a bad thing.
Not only is the excitement rising for “GOTG” since their film opened yesterday but also for “Wonder Woman” whose feature comes early next month. This Valiant Comics offering gives two tales which appears to be a common thread on this years FCBD
