Hey my readers, I am back with the second chapter of my recent exploration of the 3rd Annual NYC Hot Sauce Expo which I began discussing in THIS POST a couple of days ago. I’m back with the second chapter of the fun since I was taking so many photos that I needed to break it into parts. Let’s get the image loaded adventure underway with the one and the only Purple Pam.
For the third year straight, the NYC Hot Sauce Expo has been an event that brings out those fans of a spicier way of living and dining and I am happy to share that this will also be my own third year of exploring the expo as one of its media adventurers. It’s organized and presented by the High River Sauces company who are purveyors of some truly tasty liquidized fire concoctions and was being held at the Brooklyn Convention Center down in Greenpoint. I’m guessing that this expo center is a brand new construction as I have not yet been here nor heard of any events taking place before this one but I could be wrong. Let’s adventure together around the expo which I attended on its second day, the Sunday session.
From the outside the Brooklyn Expo Center looks like an impressive space. I love that something like this has just opened in a continually growing area and think in time it will be even better for local businesses. I got here via the “G” train line and only had to walk for about five minutes to the center. It was a nice day so this was perfect for such wandering. Based on the window poster I knew I was in the right place 🙂
As promised, I am back with a third and final installment from the 2014 NYC Hot Sauce Expo. I took a lot of photographs at this one and decided to treat it like our NY Comic Con posts and parse it out to around “50” images per post if I had that many to do. I don’t have much chatter for this segment and will let most of the images do the talking so let’s get right down to business shall we?

I’m continuing along with the discoveries that were observed at the 2nd Annual NYC Hot Sauce Expo and if you missed the first installment, please click HERE so you can start from the beginning and continue along. Now it’s time for me to pick up where I left off so let’s go. It’s true that milk helps quell the fires within based on hot sauce and as you can see this liquid was available for a hefty markup today.

I had to laugh when I realized that I was once again heading to the Hot Sauce Expo after having attended a crushing Metal show the night before. In this particular case I was actually at a few shows in sequence but that is just the way life rolls in a Metal Metropolis such as this one. Last night was the final night of tour for Children Of Bodom and that is not easy to pass up but now that this stuff had completed it was again time to offer up an objective and informative view of this year’s Hot Sauce Expo. I attended last year and it was a blast and of course I am not just speaking about the levels of heat that would invade my stomach at that affair but instead just a damned good time. This year’s Expo offered a few changes that I felt immediately worked out for the better and the first was that it would be in Manhattan, at the Penn Plaza Pavilion. This particular space often plays host to Comic Conventions and with it being indoors would not have weather as a concern for vendors and the all so important patrons with the money. Some readers might recall that last year’s Expo was held outdoors in East River Park down in Williamsburg. Once again I would be a journalistic guest of the fine folks at High River Sauces and was not going to decline based on our having known them for years now. They have a killer sauce from Savatage’s Chris Caffery among many others and I would be hoping to catch Eddie Ojeda once again since this year is the 30th Anniversary of Twisted Sister’s seminal release “Stay Hungry”. This year I would endeavor to be better prepared for the onslaught and brought along some unsalted crackers to ensure that I had a proper coating if necessary in my stomach. Sampling hot sauce after hot sauce after hot sauce was going to do me in otherwise and I wanted to avoid that.

As mentioned, one of the main organizers of the affair is Steve Seabury of High River Sauces and since there are Rock notables often present it made sense to visit this one more time. Check out the poster. It’s cool isn’t it? Trust me, this was going to be one of the only cool things that would be encountered across the course of the day and I am speaking about temperature. Now it was time to get a little spicy.
