“Captain America” #700

“No dream, no hoax, no lie, this IS Cap and this IS happening!” said SVP and Executive Editor Tom Brevoort. “Guest-starring the Thing and the Hulk (or as much as is left of them), it’s a celebration of 700 issues of star-spangled adventure! Plus, Mark Waid delivers an untold tale from Captain America’s past, featuring the classic artwork of Jack Kirby!”

Tonight: “Marvel’s Captain America: 75 Heroic Years” on ABC

“When Captain America throws his mighty shield!!!!!” Oh wait, I’ve used that one a couple of times before already so I apologize. Still, its a great rallying song to let you readers know that ABC Studios will be presenting a one-hour special called “Marvel’s Captain America: 75 Heroic Years” and its going to air right before the second season debut of “Agent Carter”. I searched for a classic Jack Kirby rendition of Cap for this posting and snagged the whole press piece from Marvel.com for your edification but I will return at the close to talk a little bit more. Check it out.

From his first appearance in 1941 through the 75 years that would follow, Captain America has been one of–if not the most–influential comic book characters ever to be created. Airing Tonight: “Marvel’s Avengers Assemble” (5/26/2013)

If you are a fan of what’s been going on in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, then I say that its high time to pay a little mind to the smaller screen in your home (but if you are like me that is probably some kind of giant LCD screen so not too small in theory). That being said check out this new animated offering that features “Earth’s Mightiest Heroes” in “Avengers Assemble”. The poster and premise are below.

Opening Today: “Captain America: The First Avenger” (7/22/2011)

“When Captain America throws his mighty shield! All those who chose to oppose his shield must yield! If he’s led to a fight and a duel is due then the red and the white and the blue will come through when Captain America throws his mighty shield!!!!!

Such were the words of the song from the “Marvel Super-Heroes” cartoon show that aired way back in 1966 but I doubt that many of you would remember that depending on your actual vintage. Today is the day that “Captain America: The First Avenger” opens up to the masses and after seeing how good “Thor” was and having enjoyed both “Iron Man” and “The Incredible Hulk” I have very high hopes for what we shall get with Cap.
