I’ve been knocking out the television and big screen trailers like I’m at the Home Run Derby and to be totally honest with you, I’m really glad that the expanding of the Geek side of the fence has been embraced as much as it has. There are so many cool superhero and Science Fiction themed shows that work in tandem with the conventions that I regularly attend. That being said we are now up to the second season trailer for the series “Star Trek: Discovery” which airs exclusively on the CBS All Access streaming service. Let’s take a look at the trailer below.
Set roughly ten years before the events of Star Trek: The Original Series, the show sees the united Klingon houses in a war with the United Federation of Planets that involves the crew of the USS Discovery.
Sonequa Martin-Green as Michael Burnham
Doug Jones as Saru
Shazad Latif as Voq/Ash Tyler
Anthony Rapp as Paul Stamets
Mary Wiseman as Sylvia Tilly
Jason Isaacs as Gabriel Lorca
Wilson Cruz as Hugh Culber
Anson Mount as Christopher Pike
PiercingMetal Thoughts: To be straight with you, I’ve not seen more than 24 minutes of the series premiere that aired for free on traditional television. I would have seen the whole show but the stupid sports broadcast messed that up and these DVR’s only record based on the scheduled time and not when the program actually gets to be aired. Amazing huh? Anyway, that being said, I’m not someone who will be paying for an additional streaming service and not for one single show especially. I have an extremely high cable bill (thank you very little Spectrum) and I also pay for Netflix and that is enough for me. This trailer looks good and my friends who had CBS All Access said that they enjoyed the show. Hopefully this makes its way to Netflix or I will look for a free month and binge watch it all. What about you readers? Did you tack on this new service to your credit card? What do you think of the show and will you be sticking with it? Chime in down below in the comments.
The next chapter in the “Star Trek” mythology begins tonight on CBS with the season premiere of “Star Trek: Discovery”. I’ve shared some trailers and posters here before and if you’ve not seen any of those yet just click on THIS LINK to open up a run of them. After tonight’s premiere the show heads to the CBS All Access service and to generate more excitement here are the official poster along with some reminder of premise and cast. I’ll close us out with some added thoughts.
The Premise: Set roughly ten years before the events of the original Star Trek, the series follows the crew of the USS Discovery as they discover new worlds and civilizations, while exploring the franchise’s signature contemporary themes. The season-long storyline revolves around “an incident and an event in Star Trek history that’s been talked about but never been explored”. I’ve touched upon the upcoming “Star Trek: Discovery” series that will air on CBS All Access and if you click the proper tag of the show name, you can see the trailer posts. Yesterday a healthy batch of the series character posters were unveiled and since I love those sorts of visuals I am sharing them with you in this narrative. After the run of images I have added in the larger cast and premise stuff. Enjoy.
Back in May I shared the first glimpse into the upcoming “Star Trek: Discovery” series which will be broadcast in full on the CBS All Access service. Now we have another trailer which premiered at the recently held Comic Con International: San Diego. I waited since there were so many trailers to share with you and this one will be on towards the end of September so it didn’t really need to be ahead of our other posts. Take a look. Then review the overall premise and the casting. I will close out with thoughts on this trailer afterwards.
