The band Order Of Ennead is a crushing three-piece outfit that dishes out some amazing Technical Death Metal and they played at Santo’s Party House not too long ago at a show that was documented on THIS LINK. Now please enjoy the full gallery of images that were captured.

The Order Of Ennead is a relatively new band that was started up by drummer Steve Asheim who is prominently known as a member of the blasphemously incendiary Deicide. With OOE, he joined forces with guitarists Kevin Quirion and John Li and took his Metal in a fantastic new direction. Don’t worry if you were thinking this might veer off an expected course because the material is intense and heavy as all hell. Having recently sunk my teeth into their second album “An Examination Of Being” I was more than interested in seeing them perform on the live stage. I would get my chance at this seemingly last minute of a gig that was also supposed to feature their Earache Records label mates Wormrot but something prevented that band from leaving their native Singapore so we would instead only have Mobile Deathcamp as openers and OOE doing their headlining set. The show was set for Santo’s Party House and I would arrive only minutes after Mobile Deathcamp had took to the stage. Here’s what I saw. Artist: Vains Of Jenna Venue: Santo’s Party House (New York, NY) Opener: Dirty Penny, Wild Street, Natasha Komis Date: 10/27/2009 Label: RLS Records
Having been to many of the super powered Heavy Metal shows hitting the region of late I found myself being caught up in the overall seriousness that the genre often brings to the table. You might find this strange but how could it be anything less than the case when one catches bands like Type-O-Negative, Satyricon, Chthonic, God Dethroned, Moonspell and Gwynbleidd all in the span of two and one half weeks. I slid in a little Gothic Hard Rock and Melancholy with The 69 Eyes for their tour but the need for some fun stuff was becoming a necessity and that was when the call came for me to attend an event hosted by Sammy Valentine that was being held at Santo’s Party House. Sammy was calling this event “Big City Rebels 2” and my guess it was the follow up to another fun event that he moderated and when I saw the roster of bands performing I knew that I was in for a good time. Headlining the show would be Vains Of Jenna who I had seen before, Dirty Penny who while new to me in concert I had some familiarity with the name and w little bit of the sound and kicking it into gear would be native residents of the NYC Nighttime Rock and Roll world Wild Street and Natasha Komis. Combine all the hot talent into an equally hot club and it was a win, win situation for all who attended. I got there early enough to catch the first group which was Natasha Komis. Here is how the night played out if you didn’t manage to attend. Continue reading Vains Of Jenna @ Santo’s Party House (10/27/2009)→
The Atmospheric/Ambient styling of Jarboe, formerly of the band Swans would perform at a new club called Santo’s Party House in NYC this weekend and I was there to observe and report on what would transpire. The interesting night also found me catching the bands Cult Of Youth and Bloody Panda, one a Celtic Rock act while the other was Doom Metal crushing. Jarboe was continuing to support her latest album “Mahakali” and should you want to learn and see more about the show, just keep on scrolling.

Having been left curious and scratching my head just a bit after hearing the two Jarboe CD’s that I’m in possession of, I had to admit that there was enough of a feeling of intrigue in my musical mind to find me open enough to catch her doing her thing in concert. It’s been documented that the singers “J2” CD left me wanting but I had enjoyed enough of its follow up “Mahakali” to find myself at a place called Santos Party House this evening. The interest level arose quite a bit when the prospect of examining a new venue would also be a part of the musical treats this evening and as I arrived at the oddly named venue down on Lafayette Street I realized that it was right around the corner from a favorite restaurant of mine – Nha Trang. For those who are not too clear on Jarboe or what it is she does, well, she is formerly the singer for a band called Swans which was considered a leading Post Punk band. Here is how the event went down this evening. Continue reading Jarboe @ Santos Party House (6/27/2009)→
