With the Comic Con International: San Diego having just started today, I’ve been flying my Geek Flag proudly and showcasing as many of the important reports from the massive comic convention as I can get to. If you’ve not seen those just click HERE to be on point if you are interested in that Pop Culture side of the PiercingMetal fence. Now its time to get back to some crushing Metal with the latest news from the guys in Cattle Decapitation who are one of the three headlining bands at this years Summer Slaughter Tour. Read on down below because this tour begins tomorrow.
The Press Release:
CATTLE DECAPITATION will begin their Summer Slaughter takeover this Friday. Boasting its first-ever triple co-headlining bill, this year’s edition of the Summer Slaughter tour finds CATTLE DECAPITATION, Carnifex, and The Faceless all sharing the spotlight of the main event and performing full sets. The journey begins July 19th in Salt Lake City, Utah and runs through August 14th in Los Angeles, California. Support will be provided by Rivers Of Nihil, Nekrogoblikon, Lorna Shore, and Brand Of Sacrifice, plus the Headbang For The Highway winners. See all confirmed dates below.
On Black Friday 2019 (November 29th), CATTLE DECAPITATION will release their long-awaited ninth studio album, Death Atlas, via Metal Blade Records. Vocalist Travis Ryan comments: “We have crafted what we feel is our strongest album to date and we are really looking forward to bringing a couple of the tracks off of it to lacerate your eardrums on this upcoming Summer Slaughter Tour! Fans soon will witness the culmination of this last year’s blood, sweat, and tears honed to a devastating, brutal, and impactful audio document that I feel will resonate with fans of the last few records for years to come. Musically and lyrically, there is a lot of grief, anger, hate, passion, and emotion poured into this one and we have found these can be excellent ingredients for extreme metal. We are once again rejuvenated and ready to spread the death and despair over this sphere that is perpetually being torn apart by us insignificants. There is no map to guide you out of this one – Death Atlas is coming!”

REVOCATION will be touring in support of their upcoming album, The Outer Ones. Set for release on September 28th via Metal Blade Records, The Outer Ones sees the band pushing both the death metal and progressive elements of their signature sound harder than ever before. “I knew that I wanted to go in a darker direction, and this is our most death metal album to date,” states vocalist/guitarist Dave Davidson. “Sometimes when death metal bands go down the prog route, they lose some of that edge, but we wanted to keep the aggression at the forefront of what we do while still pushing our boundaries.”
Moving away from the societal and historical themes that informed REVOCATION’s Great Is Our Sin (2016), this time Davidson has immersed himself in the fantastic, evoking one of the great writers of the sci-fi/horror genre. “The title is my ode to H.P. Lovecraft and the entities of pure cosmic horror that rule that universe he created. Since the new music we were writing was so evil and spacey in sections it seemed to be the right title to fit the overall vibe. But while the lyrical content is largely influenced by such writings, in every allegory there is of course some reflection of the real world, so I enjoy writing in a way that could have one overlaying meaning and then another deeper, symbolic meaning as well.”
For a first preview of The Outer Ones, a short clip from the album can be heard at: http://www.facebook.com/Revocation/videos/10155643251856194/. Stay tuned for more details and music coming soon!

PiercingMetal Thoughts: Truth be told I’ve only ever caught Revocation a couple of times and considering the amount of raving that numerous Metal friends do about them, I need to get back on point with their offerings. I’ve not seen the other bands on the run either so if I make it to their NYC show I will be sure to be on point for the whole event. It’s actually an important thing to do for many concert attendees because you never know what you will end up seeing. Some of my favorite bands were openers at one time and now I cannot get enough of them. What do you readers think of this tour? Please let me know down in the comments section.
