It’s a busy Monday here at the Metal Command HQ and while I am prepping for my next adventure and locking in some items for you to see during the week, the news about the upcoming raid on some territories by those maniacal Metal Mongols in Tengger Cavalry must be shared post haste. The alert should find numerous cities fortifying their walls and ensuring that their battlements are desbris free and allow their archers a clear sight of the approaching enemy. Check out the full press release, poster and dates below and then I will return with additional orders.
The Press Release:
Global Music Award-winning Mongolian folk metal group TENGGER CAVALRY are pleased to officially announce their highly-anticipated North American fall headline tour dates, featuring heavy metal frontrunners INCITE as special guests. The tour will kick off on September 16th in White Hall, MD, visiting a total of 24 cities and coming to a close in Montreal, QC on October 14th. See below for a full listing of tour dates. Frontman Nature Ganganbaigal states,
“We are super excited to be going out on the road with our brothers in INCITE! We will be hitting a lot of new towns on this run and also going back to some of our favorite venues from our last tour. So we ask you: North America, are you ready to raid with us?”
In just about four months time, the Metal maniacs of the Big Apple would get another appearance of one of their favorite performers, the one and only Max Cavalera. The musician has been a busy man with new Soulfly material and the project with brother Igor Cavalera in Cavalera Conspiracy, but this report is about Soulfly as we reported on the CC project elsewhere in these pages. The show was at Blender Theater this time around and found some cool openers along for the ride. We had young upstarts Incite, and Oklahoma’s Bleed The Sky and Devastation. Talk about getting more bang for your buck. A large part of the night was covered in words and images so scroll past the logo to see it all.

It was only a few months ago that guitarist/singer Max Cavalera had graced the New York City Metal faithful with an appearance in the “side-project” band known as Cavalera Conspiracy. The appearance was nothing less than a momentous occasion for all who attended either one or two of the area dates and the reason behind this was mainly because it was also the reunion of Max and his brother Igor. Each of them originally members of the legendary Brazilian band Sepultura and it had been at least ten years since the pair performed music together. That story and concert piece are documented elsewhere on the site and tonight’s appearance of Soulfly would not only be working off the momentum of that other tour but also be celebrating the bands newest CD entitled “Conquer”. The gigs featured three openers in Devastation, Incite and Bleed The Sky, but since I had not known about the very first bands participation I missed them entirely and instead arrived just as Incite were set to hit the stage. The Cavalera Conspiracy found the brothers formerly known for their work in Sepultura back in action together again. The tour also featured The Dillinger Escape Plan, Throwdown and Incite and we were on point to deliver the story. Readers can scroll past the logo below to be brought to the article.

There was a lot of excitement in the Metal community when it became known that Max and Igor Cavalera were not only going to be recording and releasing a new album, but also doing some touring in support of it. The album was titled “Inflikted” and the band would come to be known as the Cavalera Conspiracy. It would feature not only Max and Igor, but also Marc Rizzo of Soulfly and Joe Duplantier of Gojira and be a straight ahead Metal record that delivered on all counts. The bands appearance in NYC would find them hosting not one, but two sold out nights at The Fillmore NY venue. We would hit the Saturday performance and make sure that we were in place to enjoy all five of the bands that would be featured on the bill this evening. Clearly this was going to be a long night, and the summer heat was only going to escalate with this much Metal to absorb. Incite would be the first group up for the night.
