The Details: Pentagram are bona fide legends of the Doom Metal genre and were underground before such a label was even a thing. Their crushing sound is something that fans need to hear up close and personal to better absorb it and that makes offering up this new contest for their appearance at LPR an absolutely awesome opportunity. The band will be joined by Brant Bjork, Royal Thunder and Black Wizard and thanks to the marketing powers that be at the venue, some PiercingMetal readers are going to see this show for free. Read on below on how to participate.

When and Where: Saturday, April 21st at Le Poisson Rouge (158 Bleecker Street)

To Participate: Since I generally ask for three things about a particular band that you like the most and compel you to enter the competition let’s stick with that premise as it pertains to the legendary Pentagram. You can speak about an album, a live concert experience or perhaps how they changed your own Metal music perception. Just give me three good reasons and more than just “because they rock dude” since I laugh at those entries at this point. If you have deep appreciation for any of the opening acts you can surely show them some love after you compile your necessary three Pentagram points. A little brown nosing so to speak ? Before you begin please peruse some important guidelines.

Pentagram Unveils Select East Coast Dates

Here’s a quick one for you to absorb as it seems like the legendary Pentagram will be doing a few choice gigs on the East Coast. The poster denotes them all so take a look.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: Now that Black Sabbath have called it a career it’s time to focus that Metal attention on some other bands that you might have let slip by you while you lent your energy to the founders. I use Sabbath as a reference because Pentagram’s lead singer Bobby Liebling was dishing out the Doom from way back then as well. Having seen Pentagram a few times in concert I can stress that it’s a satisfying Doom foray so if you are in the region don’t miss out on these select appearances. If you are a fan what do you think of these few gigs? If you are among the curious let me know why. See you next time.

New Year’s Music Resolutions For 2013: The End…

Well my Metal legions we have finally reached the last chapter of our “New Year’s Music Resolutions for 2013” and holy mackeral this was a doozy when compared to last year’s series. The last few resolution quotes that we have are below, but first I want to thank everyone who participated in the series and those media resources that reached out to their talent pool to get us some really awesome stuff. You all made a very fun project all the more exciting. Now let’s get to the final resolutions and onto our new year’s blogging and reporting.

1. Noah Martin (Arsis): This year, I firstly hope to finally refinish my ESP with transparent neon green. My practice regiment will include, but not be limited to, an additional two hours, devoted wholly to slide vibrato and hair windmills. Arsis will make “Unwelcome” a critically-acclaimed and successful album through proper touring and positive reception from the press. Happy New Year’s!

2. Chris Catero (Razer): My New Year’s Music Resolution is to become something more than a caveman on my home ProTools rig!

3. Fred LeClercq (Dragonforce): “New Year’s Music Resolution is workin on my different projects as well as writing songs for a new Dragonforce album. The only challenge is to know which riff suits what band. But still its fun. That. And also try to drink less while on tour thats another challenge, haha”

The “Power Of The Riff” Is Coming East In September

As I have mentioned a few times already in this area of PiercingMetal.com, when we learn of a tour or area festival type event that is worthy of your attention we shall always aim to offer you up a little commercial announcement about it so you are in the know. With that being the case please check this one out…..

They call this little bit of Metal Madness “The Power Of The Riff” and if I am reading correctly, this will be the first time that such an event is on the East Coast. Isn’t that awesome? The show will take place across the first weekend in September at the Warsaw in Williamsburg Brooklyn. Since this is also the Labor Day holiday you are all off on Monday and that means there is no problem with your staying out late for a Metal show the night before. Check out who is playing this event:

Sat (Sept. 1): Pentagram, Poison Idea, Negative Approach, Xibalba, Alpha & Omega, Power Trip
Sun (Sept. 2): SUNN 0))), Winter, Repulsion, Unearthly Trance, Salvation, Dead In The Dirt

The bombastic show is being presented by the Brooklyn Vegan and Scenic so please be sure to give some kudos where they are due. Tickets are on sale now and should you be interested in attending but need a little more background on some of the bands I have pasted in some Amazon.com links to help you along.
