When we last discussed the great Yoshiki here on PiercingMetal.com, it was to alert you to his Classical show being broadcast on PBS (discussed HERE if you missed it). More than a month has passed since the show broadcast but I think you can find it On Demand depending on what your local cable provider lets you access and now some great news about another unique performance. Read on down to the press release I recently received.
The Press Release:
YOSHIKI gave special performances of the songs “Endless Rain” and “Anniversary” and was interviewed on NHK World’s premiere episode of the show “SONGS OF TOKYO,” which debuted worldwide this week (April 22, 2019). Watch YOSHIKI on NHK’s “Songs of Tokyo” episode (link avail. through June 27, 2019): HERE.
“Anniversary,” the concerto composed by YOSHIKI for the 10th anniversary of Emperor Akihito’s reign, was performed for the first time in full on national Japanese television. NHK World reaches 300 million viewers in over 160 countries, and YOSHIKI, backed by an orchestra for the special event, dedicated the song to the transition between the Heisei and Reiwa eras. Read more about Japan’s historic transition to the new Imperial Era of Japan starting May 1, 2019 HERE.
