The folks over at Metal Blade Records and Metal Injection have announced a couple of exclusive album listening events that will bring the intensely crushing sounds of the new Behemoth album “I Loved You At Your Darkest” to the lucky assembled masses. There’s even a special DJ set by Candiria’s own John Lamacchia. Check out the invite below.
Location:Vandal, 199 Bowery New York, NY 10002 (6:30PM-9:30PM 21+).
Important Update: Based on the interest in this event, the event has been MOVED from The Stanton Social to Vandal New York. There is also a time change with the new space starting earlier and ending earlier.
PiercingMetal Thoughts: I’ve been following the Metal happenings of Behemoth since I think around 2004 which was very early in my own journalistic adventures and also before the PiercingMetal.com website was even a thing that I was doing. They have ALWAYS managed to impress me with the intensity of the sound they had and the dramatic presentation of their shows often left me rooted to the spot I was standing in. Recently, I’ve shared the news about their upcoming National Tour (seen HERE) along with their NSFW video of “God=Dog” (discussed HERE). Interested fans of the region will want to act fast and RSVP via the information on THIS LINK and since this isn’t a huge place, you’ll want to get there as early as possible. I’ve read that a simple RSVP does NOT guarantee your entrance. I realize that the two coastal events might make some middle states fans furious and that’s where your social networking powers come into play. Perhaps if enough of you sound off, the band will add some additional events to let you listen in. You don’t know unless you try right? That’s all I have about this one, so tell me what you think about it happening. I’ll ask you to keep the comments to this particular announcement because you can chime in about the tour or video on those posts themselves. Thanks fiends. See you next time.
In the beginning of October, the mighty Behemoth will release their next album which is entitled “I Loved You At Your Darkest”. The opus will come care of their label of record for the last few years in Metal Blade Records and now that they have completed their support of “The Final Tour” by Slayer it’s time to get back to work on their own agenda. The first single for the album is “God=Dog” and the video for this profane little ditty just manifested across the darker channels of the YouTube. Let’s watch and I suggest that you leave the lights on and have some rosary beads nearby. Oh yeah, and chase the kids or younger friends out of the room since there are some violent and pseudo sexual images coming at you in this one. Definitely NSFW.
Whew. That was something else wasn’t it? Truth be told this didn’t surprise me since its Behemoth and after all, they have worn their blasphemous teachings on their sleeves for many, many years. In this one we find a few different variations on the Crucifixion and while singer Nergal is at one point one of the men hanging, we also find him playing the part of a vengeful king and then some angry demonic force of horror. Intense for sure and like I’ve mentioned just before the clip – not for all audiences. The track itself I will go into for a Single Review in the coming days. The video comes on the tail of the bands announcing their North American tour which we celebrated here on the website on a post that you can find HERE in case you missed it. Having just seen them during one of the Slayer appearances, I can only say how excited I am for a headlining tour as they truly command the stage. If you haven’t seen them yet, let this be your time.
If you’ve never witnessed the crushing brutality that is the band Behemoth, then you’re going to want to maximize this next video on your screen and indulge as Metal Blade Records presents the band doing their song “The Satanist” in concert. The clip hails from their forthcoming video and CD release “Messe Noire”. You’ve been warned.
PiercingMetal Thoughts: I don’t have much to add here other than the fact that while this is a solid delivery and execution of the title track from their “The Satanist” album; there is truly no better way to experience Behemoth than with your own eyes in a club where they might be playing. I wouldn’t recommend that the newbies stand too close to the stage since the crowd surfing can get out of hand, but standing on the periphery of it all or viewing down from up above is worth doing. I’ve been seeing Behemoth in concert since 2004 unless I am off a year and its always an experience that leaves me exhausted but wanting more. I’ve even been fortunate enough to have met the guys over the years and to have covered their work here on the website. Just click THIS LINK to open up any posts that refer to them. You’ll find a little bit of everything by doing that and most posts have links to Amazon.com purchase points to spark your grabbing the credit card. Currently, Behemoth is one of the many bands that are supporting the final tour by Slayer. They are on the first leg and if you’ve interest in catching them you better act fast or risk missing out on it. “Messe Noire” will hit the streets in April.
The scuttlebutt for this one has been making the rounds for a couple of days but I generally try to wait for 100% official press confirmation announcements since its a good policy. That being said, the Apocalypse will be set in motion this summer based on the fact that Slayer will be doing a headlining run with support from Lamb Of God and Behemoth. Check out the full on scoop below. I’ll be back with closing thoughts later.
The Press Release:
SLAYER…LAMB OF GOD…BEHEMOTH…Spreading The Apocalypse This Summer
LOS ANGELES, CA – Tuesday, February 28, 2017 — There are many perilous ways one can spend time off – Volcano-boarding down Cerro Negro, Nicaragua’s active volcano, or maybe bungee jumping from a helicopter over the bubbling crater of Chile’s Villarrica. How about a visit to Sao Paulo’s Snake Island, home of some 4000 golden lancehead vipers whose venom can melt human flesh, or shark diving without a cage in South Africa. But nothing is quite as hazardous or risky as a night in the pit at a Slayer concert. Add to that the ferociousness of Lamb of God and Behemoth, and you’ve got a Satan-approved triple bill of Biblical proportions.
The six-week expedition will rage across North America beginning July 12 in Bemidji, MN, winding up in Phoenix, AZ on August 20. Slayer and Lamb of God will also play Wisconsin’s Rock Fest 2017 (7/13) and Rock USA 2017 (7/15), and then meet up with Behemoth at the Chicago Open Air Festival on July 16. Tickets go on sale this Friday, March 3; log on to www.slayer.net/tour for all purchasing details.
Kerry King/Slayer Quote:
“As metal tours go, this is the one that your fellow metal heads will be bragging about if you miss it! Not very often I get to go on tour where we are all friends to start. That being said, the potential for greatness at these events is mind blowing. I look forward to being a part of it, and hanging with old friends- bands as well as fanatical fans! Let the festivities begin!!” Continue reading Behold Your Tour of Tours: Slayer, Lamb Of God and Behemoth!!!→
Considering how long they’ve been around, I’m hoping that you’ve been able to catch a show by the mighty Behemoth at least once or more because if you are a Metal fan and have not yet done so you are cheating yourself out of one of the most brutalizing events that can be witnessed on the stage today. Their music is throttling and their presentation is nothing less than intensity times ten and if you are still among the unschooled in this Metal education, then the recent announcement about the bands return to America with supporting act Myrkur should set your plans in motion. Take a look at the poster, the press release and the tour dates below and then I’ll return.
The Press Release:
Polish death/black metal outfit, BEHEMOTH, has announced their return to North America this Spring with a special tour, featuring support from Myrkur. With plans to play their latest album, The Satanist, in its entirety, the journey – which runs from April 21st through May 7th – is one not to be missed! A limited number of premium ticketing packages which include a commemorative laminate, meet & greet session with the band, an 18″ x 24″ poster set (three posters), 42″ x 42″ wall flag, and general admission ticket are available now at showstubs.com/behemoth. Only fifty fans per show can purchase the package, so reserve yours now! In addition to the concert, fans will also have the chance to view “The Congregation” exhibition at each venue. Dubbed, “a symbiosis of BEHEMOTH and Toxic Vision,” the display showcases the collaboration between the two parties.
