The Press Release:
Activist-Artist OTEP Announces FIRE & FURY North American Summer Headline Tour Dates Politically-Charged New Album to be Released Later in 2018 via Napalm Records. Iconic rockers OTEP recently announced the upcoming release of their eighth full-length album, scheduled to release later this year via Napalm Records. The tour will run for nearly a month and a half, coming to an end in Ventura, CA on August 18. See below for all currently confirmed tour dates. Life Of Agony Announce “Rise Of The Underground” 2018 Tour

Monday is not everyone’s favorite day and hence Garfield always grumbling how that he hates Mondays. I feel the sure fire way to cure that level of blues is with a tour announcement or two. Let’s start the week off properly with the latest dope from the band known as Life Of Agony. I’ll return at the close with some additional editorial.

The Press Release:
New York’s LIFE OF AGONY has announced dates for a headlining trek called “Rise of the Underground Tour 2018” spanning the USA and Europe. The shows will begin with two sold-out, hometown warm-up gigs April 18th & 19th at Saint Vitus in Brooklyn, and conclude November 2nd as headliners of The Sound of Revolution Festival in Eindhoven, Netherlands. Full list of dates are below.

“With 2018 marking the 25th anniversary of our debut album, we are just so incredibly grateful to our fans for sticking with us all these years and wanted to do something really special for them. We’re breaking out some old fan favorites that we’ve never played before live and hitting cities we haven’t been to in over a decade,” says bassist Alan Robert. “You really can’t beat the crazy energy of a packed, sweaty, tiny club, like we used to play back in the day, so we decided to include some very intimate rooms on this tour, along with the bigger venues, to feel that deep emotional connection again with our die-hard fans. It’s gonna be insane.”

Joining Rise of the Underground Tour 2018 as main support during the September US dates will be Silvertomb, the new band featuring Johnny Kelly and Kenny Hickey from Type O Negative. More support acts to be announced soon.

LIFE OF AGONY emerged from the New York music scene in the early ’90s with one of the most distinctive sounds in its genre. Best known for its 1993 metal/crossover debut River Runs Red, the band instantly built a cult following. For over two decades, the group toured relentlessly all over the world, sharing stages with the biggest names in rock, including Metallica, Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne, Foo Fighters, and The Red Hot Chili Peppers. After the much-praised Ugly (1995), LIFE OF AGONY opted for a highly energetic alternative rock approach on Soul Searching Sun (1997) and Broken Valley (2005) – the latter produced by Greg Fidelman (Slipknot, Metallica). Last year, the group released their 5th studio album A Place Where There’s No More Pain (2017) to critical acclaim, debuting at #24 on Billboard’s Hard Rock Album Chart. LIFE OF AGONY has sold over one million albums to date.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: Over the years I’ve pretty much been more of the casual fan of the type of sound that LOA brings to the table, but I’ve got to share that a whole lot of my inner circle are over the top ardent supporters of them so that’s awesome. I’m overdue on a new album review but watch for that soon and I’ll admit I am curious about the new Silvertomb band as well. That makes me feel that I will be looking to be a part of the NYC region show. It’s at the Bowery Ballroom which is a place I don’t get too all that much. So what do you readers think about this tour? Are you down with the program and will be on point for one or more of the appearances? Let me know down in the comments section below.

Fans of the band Life Of Agony and the now very famous Saint Vitus Bar are likely going to lose their s**t at the announcement that the band will be delivering two shows at the club. Check out the poster and the press copy that came along with it. I’ll close out with some additional editorial.

Mina Caputo adds “I’m excited to think that this thing we’re doing is touching so many people in so many cultures. Satyricon Announces “Final” US Tour

Yesterday was a weird day of Metal News as we not only learned of this decision by Satyricon but also that Slayer was planning on one last Thrashing for their fans. Check out the Satyricon low down and where they will be stopping for their Final US Go…..

The Press Release:
We are excited to announce that we will be touring in the US and Canada. As our U.S fans will have noticed, we haven’t toured there in nine years. There are many reasons for that. I like America and I like Americans, but unfortunately touring there has been a difficult chapter in the history of Satyricon. I can’t guarantee what the future holds, but we did not go on the last record, so I am hoping that one final headlining tour can be a good way of sharing some electric musical moments with our U.S fans, whom we love just as much as all our other fans across the world. See you all soon. – SW

Life Of Agony Hires Drummer Veronica Bellino

A short while ago the band Life Of Agony made an announcement about a brand new member of their lineup. Sadly, after many years behind the kit, drummer Sal Abruscato left the band on amicable terms – the news came care of the bands official website but has been circulating around the other mediums now as well.

The Scoop:
On January 22, 2018, Life Of Agony welcomed new drummer Veronica Bellino into the band, best known for her work with Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Jeff Beck, DMC, Richie Sambora/Orianthi, and Carmine Appice/Slamm. Updates on new LOA music and upcoming tour dates will be announced shortly! The 2018 Life of Agony lineup features vocalist Mina Caputo, guitarist Joey Z, bassist Alan Robert, and drummer Veronica Bellino.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: While we are going to miss the pounding might of Sal Abruscato in the lineup, I am surely excited to see what Veronica is going to bring to the table. We’ve been fans of her efforts for a number of years now and actually met her on several occasions around the NYC Music Scene. She is a stellar and deeply skilled player with chops that make other drummers say “how’d she do that”. I’ve not seen LOA in a few years based on scheduling but you can bet that I will be watching the announcements for some local dates so I can cheer on the new blood 🙂 Best of luck Veronica on this great news. Fans of the band should know that their legacy and brand new material are in very good hands. Goodnight.
