As much as I enjoyed a decent amount of the musical output from the band Great White I would be the first to say that I wasn’t their biggest supporter over the years. To me, their bluesy style was good enough to be easily accepted by many but it was nothing compared to the intense Thrash Metal that I was absorbing when they were on their rise. Of course as time went on I began to get into their stuff a little bit more than I had expected and this was primarily due to the bands beginning to appear on outlets of the day such as MTV. The band started getting some serious video rotation for their track “Rock Me” where they became a staple of the network and hence a lot more popular than they could have hoped to become. Not long after that a follow up track from the bands “Twice Shy” album received the same treatment. This was the tune “Once Bitten Twice Shy” which was a classic Ian Hunter Mott The Hoople track and a really good song when done by the Great White guys as well. Over the course of their career the band had released six albums up to the time that this compilation ends but oddly enough it only features music from five of these albums. Ten tracks are included from the following five releases “Shot In The Dark”, “Once Bitten”, “Twice Shy”, “Hooked” and “Psycho City” and with only two tracks coming from each amounts to nothing more than a teaser tray of the bands material but still something that is good enough to give the curious Hard Rock fan a nice taste about what they were capable of. The bands lineup for all the tracks is Jack Russell (vocals), Mark Kendall (guitars), Tony Montana (bass), Michael Lardie (keyboards) and Audie Desbrow (drums) and historically this is considered the bands classic lineup and most popular with the fans.
