A Note from Lars, Kirk, and Rob. We are truly sorry to inform our fans and friends that we must postpone our upcoming tour of Australia and New Zealand. As most of you probably know, our brother James has been struggling with addiction on and off for many years. He has now, unfortunately, had to re-enter a treatment program to work on his recovery again.
A few months ago, I shared the news from Metallica and their at the time upcoming “S&M2” pair of concerts with the San Francisco Symphony. If you didn’t see that notice just click HERE to be up to speed. A couple of days ago, the band revealed a way that the most ardent of fans can see the film before everyone else. Take a look.
The response to the two S&M² shows earlier this month at San Francisco’s new Chase Center has been nothing short of mind-boggling! We had the most incredible time with the San Francisco Symphony and now cannot wait to share it with the world on the big screen. The film will play in over 3,400 theaters worldwide on October 9th, but here’s your chance to see it first! Continue reading Metallica Wants You To See The “S&M2” Film First→
In a few months, Metallica will be revisiting the “S&M” idea with a couple of special shows in California and for those of us who couldn’t secure a ticket, there will be a screening. Take a look down below on this super cool happening.
The Press Release:
As many of you know, we were blown away by the response to S&M² when we announced the first – and then second – show this past spring. For those of you who can’t attend either of the gigs in the Bay Area, we still want to share this unique performance with you. On October 9th, we are psyched to be bringing you S&M², a celebration of the 20th anniversary of the original S&M concerts, album, and film that also commemorates the grand opening of the state-of-the-art Chase Center, a historic addition to San Francisco’s waterfront. This one-night-only event will be shown in over 3,000 movie theaters around the world!

Music biopics are things that are riding high at the moment if you can count the success of the recent “Bohemian Rhapsody” film and the unnerving revelations of “Lords Of Chaos” as a part of the puzzle but as far as documentaries about the music that stick with people for long afterward and become constant topics of conversation, the number is limited for sure. The documentary “Murder In The Front Row” takes its name from the part of the song by Bay Area Thrashers Exodus from the song “Bonded By Blood” and will bring the audience back to the days were on any night of the week a live music craving Metalhead would be able to see the likes of Metallica, Slayer, Exodus, Possessed and even New York’s Anthrax in small clubs as a new music scene was building. The trailer for the documentary was just recently revealed so let’s watch it right now. I recommend holding back on any circle pit activity and stage diving until you have completed for your own safety and for that of your preferred devices.
About The Film: “Murder In The Front Row: The San Francisco Bay Area Thrash Metal Story”. In the early 1980’s, a small group of dedicated Bay Area headbangers shunned the hard rock of MTV and Hollywood hairspray bands in favor of a more dangerous brand of metal that became known as thrash! From the tape trading network to the clubs to the record stores and fanzines, director Adam Dubin reveals how the scene nurtured the music and the music spawned a movement. “Murder In The Front Row” is told through powerful first person testimony and stunning animation and photography. The film is a social study of a group of young people defying the odds and building something essential for themselves. Featuring interviews with Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax, Exodus, Testament, Death Angel, Possessed and many more! Narrated by Brian Posehn. (c/o Official YouTube Channel).
