Alright my friends, this is it. You have safely arrived at the absolute final chapter of the NY Comic Con explorations as we close out Day Four with its third and final chapter. As I’ve noted before, if you haven’t seen the preceding chapters please click on THIS LINK to open everything related to this event on a new page. You won’t regret doing so because we’ve showcased some truly amazing people along the way. Here we go.
Hey gang, its nice to see you once again. I’m going to keep my intro short since there is plenty of work to post today but we are indeed at another chapter of the NY Comic Con 2017 coverage. Part 5 will be the last of the stuff from the Day One adventures and if you’ve missed any of the posts that preceded this one, just click on THIS LINK as it will open a battery of content for you. Let’s get a move on with these two lovely cosplayers.
Okay my friends, we are now going to present you with the fun-filled visual findings from the first-ever “Five Points Festival”. The convention was taking place on Pier 36 down on the Lower East Side and it would be the first time that I ever went down this way for an event. It was pretty easy to get to by mass transit and then would be a few minutes walk. Check out one of the promo pieces of art to warm up to what is coming in these photos. As you can see the premise was Designer Toys, Comics, Street Art, Beer and an overall NYC vibe. This is going to be interesting for sure. Here we go.
The Press Release:
Following up on an incredibly successful Kickstarter campaign late last year, GWAR will bring the blasphemous, blood-soaked series that fans demanded to print in June, courtesy of Dynamite Entertainment! GWAR has released an official video announcing the Dynamite partnership, which can be viewed here:
From the depths of outer space to the frozen wasteland of Antarctica, punk rock and heavy metal’s most shocking band of intergalactic blood-spewing alien monsters has returned to kill everything and respect nothing in the pages of GWAR: Orgasmageddon! Banished to the past by the cold and calculating Mr. Perfect, the heroes of GWAR trample through time like a deranged Bill & Ted on bath salts. Antics ensue as they stomp and smash and shape human history to what we accept as our current reality. Co-written by GWAR themselves and Matt Miner (Toe Tag Riot, Critical Hit), and featuring art by Jonathan Brandon Sawyer (Welcome Back, Critical Hit), GWAR: Orgasmageddon is a love letter to comics, grindhouse movies, and heavy metal, sure to appeal both to the most die-hard fan and the comics fanboy/fangirl intrigued by the prospect of social awareness drowned in geysers of blood and alien jizz.
“It’s awesome to have a comic coming out!” says Matt Maguire, better known in the band lineup as Sawborg Destructo. “When Matt Miner and I first talked, everything clicked and I knew we were going to do a cool project. We can’t wait to show all of the amazing work that is being generated for this comic! With Dynamite in our corner, it’s gonna be a big book!” Continue reading Dynamite Entertainment’s “GWAR: Orgasmageddon” #1 Open To Pre-Order→
You readers already know how much I love the comic book medium here on PiercingMetal if you’ve ever glanced at our monthly solicitations posts along with the occasional title review piece. Over the last few years we’ve found KISS doing a few titles and even the likes of Dimmu Borgir and while they are a different sort of thing – The Rock and Roll Comics series is something that really needs to return. With that in mind, it was awesome to find a new Kickstarter campaign being done for a GWAR comic book series. I’ll let the provided press release give you all the insight and then I’ll close up the issue with some final thoughts.
