Tonight: “Lucifer” Series Finale on Fox (5/14/2018)

Hey Fiends, so you know we’ve discussed the DC Comics Vertigo based show “Lucifer” here on the website, and I wanted to remind you that tonight is the season finale of the third season. Actually, I have a little bad news for you because tonight’s episode is in truth the series finale as it was cancelled by Fox a couple of days ago. Let’s review the premise and casting once more before the episode.

The Premise: The series will focus on Lucifer, “who is bored and unhappy as the Lord of Hell and resigns his throne and abandons his kingdom for the beauty of Los Angeles, where he gets his kicks helping the LAPD punish criminals”.

The Cast:
Tom Ellis as Lucifer Morningstar
Lesley-Ann Brandt as Maze
Lauren German as Chloe Dancer
Kevin Alejandro as Dan
Rachael Harris as Linda Martin
D. B. Woodside as Amenadiel
Scarlett Estevez as Trixie
Tricia Helfer as Charlotte Richards/”Mum”
Aimee Garcia as Ella Lopez
Tom Welling as Lieutenant Marcus Pierce/Cain

PiercingMetal Thoughts: I’ve already admitted to never really having read the comic series and that’s fine as far as this show is concerned since they are vastly different. I did enjoy the show and will miss it in some sense since I’ve been keeping up with most of the comic book themed shows. According to what I’ve read there are a couple of episodes that haven’t been aired and these will likely be added to a home video collected edition of the series. I honestly don’t think Fox is going to waste airtime on something that they found the need to cancel. Tom Ellis was great as was Maze if I had to pick my favorites. They would be fun to turn up on “Legends Of Tomorrow” for some kind of weird episode. Anyway, let’s see how this all plays out later on. Thanks for reading.

The Premise
The series focuses on Lucifer Morningstar, “who is bored and unhappy as the Lord of Hell and resigns his throne and abandons his kingdom for the beauty of Los Angeles, where he gets his kicks helping the LAPD punish criminals”. Lucifer runs a piano bar in Los Angeles called “Lux”, with the assistance of his demonic ally Mazikeen or “Maze”. After a minor celebrity whom Lucifer once helped achieve fame is murdered outside his club, Lucifer becomes involved with the LAPD when he takes it upon himself to assist Detective Chloe Decker in finding the one responsible so that he can “punish them”. Scarlett Estevez as Trixie
AnnaLynne McCord as Delilah

PiercingMetal Thoughts: I have to admit that I didn’t really read the “Lucifer” series that came out on Vertigo outside of an issue here and there but I enjoyed how it connected to the Sandman mythology. Of course it might have made more sense to connect it to that of “Constantine” but oh well. Fox seems to be doing well with “Gotham” and while this is an entirely different thing from what we should expect in “Lucifer”, I hope that the comic fans that are watching that show will give this one a chance. We’ve lost “Constantine” as a show already but fortunately he’s turned up in “Arrow” since then and my crossed fingers are generating their mojo at his being used on the other shows that DC has running on the small screen. Only time will tell if this will have some legs or will be a single season series. What do you readers think about this one? Let me know in the comments section.
