I will admit that the band eluded me until their 2006 release “Oath Bound” which I found rather interesting given its being entirely sung in Orc-speak. That alone made looking back on the EP that preceded it something that I was curious about. Before the new listeners approaches this album they should be aware that the material found on the CD was half written for Summoning releases and half written for Silenus’ side project Mirkwood. Despite this being the case the two songs seem to work together well in this context. An important thing to know is that there does not seem to be any guitar or real singing across the span of these two lengthy tracks which add up to about seventeen minutes (the typical length of a Dream Theater song) so if you are expecting blazing or inspiring guitar you should keep on moving. There are words to the tunes but these seem to be various strategically placed sound bytes from the “Lord Of The Rings” films and are very repetitive if you needed to analyze that. There are drums but it’s not so much an exposition of playing technique as it is more of a galloping pace forward into whatever lands lie ahead.
