Hey readers, so this is less of a “music video review” as opposed to a sharing of something pretty damned awesome. Check out the press about it and the full clip. I’ll come back with a notion or two at the close.
The Press Release:
On Tuesday, German thrash titans KREATOR delivered an exclusive live performance on the German late-night show “Circus HalliGalli” together with two very special singers on stage: For the song “Satan Is Real”, Papa Emeritus III of GHOST as well as DRANGSAL front man Max Gruber joined Mille Petrozza and his hellish team and delivered a performance to remember!
“It was an absolute honor and a lot of fun to have such amazing artists as Max Gruber and Papa as guests on ‘Satan is Real’. We will never forget this night of diabolic love!”, states KREATOR mastermind Mille. Watch the video of the broadcast below:
KREATOR’s recent album, Gods Of Violence, smashed charts worldwide after its release on January 27 and entered the German charts on #1. It won three soundchecks (Metal Hammer, Rock Hard and Legacy) and hit a total of 29(!) magazine covers in Europe!
PiercingMetal Thoughts: Simply put I loved this short clip as it really gives a good look at just how intense Kreator is on the live stage. Adding Papa III to the mix made it all the more enjoyable for me but wow could that audience appear any less interested or what? Folks viewing at home should realize that when you are in the studio audience you have to follow whatever rules the show production manager says and he probably said “you people stay put or get thrown out” or something to that effect. There was some pyrotechnics going on as well and they probably don’t want people near that at all. We actually just caught Kreator during the Decibel Music Tour and it was as an as expected throttling event. I felt my bones rattling around inside of me with the razor sharp riffs and thundering drums. I also have a bit of a neck strain from all the headbanging and from trying to keep an eye out for the crowd surfers above me. Good times. If you’ve not yet seen Kreator do their thing in concert you should get to it. The new release is also some molten Metal so plan on adding that to your collection ASAP. Until next we meet. Auf Wiedersein.
You’ve likely already heard the news by now that not only is Nightwish taking a well-deserved break from touring, but that they are also releasing a massive DVD/Blu-ray live video set in the coming days. We just received some press news about it and I am sharing it with you all down below. Read on.
The Press Copy:
“We were here!” – once again, NIGHTWISH carve their name into the walls of music history and after touring for a year and a half throughout every corner of the world, their time has come to immortalize the Endless Forms Most Beautiful World Tour 2015 – 2016 on DVD. On December 16th, the symphonic metal visionaries are set to release their new live milestone Vehicle Of Spirit, featuring two full concerts and plenty of bonus material. Their sold-out Wembley show in front of 12.000 fans was not the only milestone on this almost 2-year-long tour – in Tampere, Finland, the band entered yet undiscovered grounds. The Show in Ratina Stadion was a home crowd specialty (for 4/6th of the band) with the biggest stage production they’ve ever had! To share this lovely and nostalgic atmosphere with you all, the band releases their live clip of the song “Stargazers”, which was performed live in Tampere, today. Enjoy the amazing magic of this performance and watch it
Artist: KISS Title: “KISS Rocks Vegas” [Blu-ray/CD] Label: Eagle Vision Release Date: 8/26/2016 Genre: Hard Rock Rating: 4.5/5
The opening copy of the press release that arrived with this concert video and audio piece asked “Is there ANY live experience like KISS on stage” and to that inquiry I can only say “no, there is nothing else like this” and now I can get into the examination of the upcoming “KISS Rocks Vegas” release that will hit the shelves in about a week. I’ve had the discs for a few days already and watched them a couple of times but also was fortunate enough to see this presented on the big screen at the AMC Empire 25 back in May. Readers who are interested in my topical thoughts on that experience can click on THIS LINK to see what I had to say. Knowing what was to be found on the Blu-ray release makes these words easy and I will try to not be too repetitive.
“KISS Rocks Vegas” comes from the band’s first ever historic residency at “The Joint” in the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. In my humble opinion, there is probably no better band to see in this kind of setting and since the space would not be arena size it would be interesting to see what kind of show KISS would give their fans. Starting off with the classic opener “Detroit Rock City” the band shows that they still have what it takes to bring you the most exciting show possible. The stage is a dizzying array of screens that bring you right up closer than you would be in the first row and if you have a decent sized television in your home then you are in for a treat. As I said in the film review the tune selections were awesome for me since some long missed tunes were back in the bands set such as “Creatures Of The Night”, “War Machine” and “Tears Are Falling”. I do miss “Firehouse” for the flame splitting by Gene Simmons but I guess I can deal with some change at this point. Continue reading “KISS Rocks Vegas” by KISS [Blu-ray/CD]→
Artist: Grateful Dead Title: “Fare Thee Well” Label: Rhino Entertainment Release Date: 11/20/2015 Genre: Rock Rating: 4/5
Back in the Summer of 2015, the surviving members of The Grateful Dead, meaning Phil Lesh, Bob Weir, Mickey Hart and Bill Kreautzmann, were joined together in music with long time keyboardist Jeff Chimenti, Bruce Hornsby and Trey Anastasio for a series of shows under the “Fare Thee Well” banner. These shows would be celebrating the milestone 50th Anniversary of the Grateful Dead and also would be the last time that the name would be used for concerts and recording. There would be a total of five concerts with two being in California, while the remaining and final three would happen at Chicago’s Soldier Field and this Blu-ray/CD set delivers the full final performance of The Grateful Dead. Over the course of my life I didn’t initially enjoy what The Dead was all about but this was because a lot of my friends who did like them would always tell me that what I listened to sucked. My appreciation of Hard Rock and the burgeoning Metal sound found me alienating what the Dead offered up purely by association to those memories. I admit this to you readers because that was a long time ago and since that time I have learned to appreciate a whole lot of Grateful Dead music but mostly by way of the “greatest hits” that every single other casual fan might know. The concert is a long one and something like 180 minutes/three hours long and each set is delivered on separate discs. Let’s go over the first set. Artist: KISS Title: “KISS Rocks Vegas” Theatrical Screening Label: Fathom Events/Eagle Vision Date: 5/25/2016 Genre: Hard Rock Rating: 4.5/5
Back in 2014, the legendary KISS hosted a nine date residency at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino at their event space known as “The Joint”. It was a great idea because so many other bands were doing these kind of multi-show events in the recent years but let’s face it, there is only one KISS and that made this residency something a whole lot bigger in terms of the entertainment value that the fans who attended were going to get. Now this kind of history making event is awesome for sure but also is not something that everyone can easily get to and afford since it requires much more than your ticket price. Out of town fans need to contend with travel and lodging costs along with food and drink and remember this is Vegas which is a pricy place to raise that Rock and Roll hell. Fortunately, the Hottest Band In The World decided to capture the residency on video for a special big screen showing, a PPV event and an eventual home video release on DVD and Blu-ray. Thanks to the folks at Fathom Events, NYC was going to get a chance to enjoy the film for the price of a movie ticket and would be showing this at the AMC Empire 25 in Times Square. Our theatre was way up on the fifth floor of the place so it came with a bonus escalator ride with some precarious heights as well. Continue reading Checking Out “KISS Rocks Vegas” @ AMC Empire 25→
