We loved everything about the band Sister Sin in terms of music and their live concert presentation. It was rocking and it was super energetic on the stage and when they broke up last year a sigh of sadness hit us here at the Metal Command HQ. This of course was not even half as big as the despair that hit the bands longtime fans around the world. I vowed to keep up with their individual adventures going forward and when I saw the official press release by the bands former singer Liv Jagrell I knew that I had to share it with you all. Check out the statement below and then I’ll return.
The Press Release:
May 3, 2016 – From the gutters of south Sweden, Liv “Sin” Jagrell emerged as a major force as the vocalist for hard rockers Sister Sin. Throughout their 13 year career, Sister Sin sold thousands of albums and toured the world with high profile tours supporting the likes of Slayer and King Diamond on the Rockstar Mayhem festival tour, as well as being a part of the Revolver Magazine ”Hottest Chicks in Metal” tour. Sister Sin toured relentlessly for over a decade across Europe and North America garnering an intensely loyal following of rockers that craved the band’s aggressive and melodic brand of hard rock. The morning coffee was interrupted by the sad news about the Swedish Hard Rock band Sister Sin who have decided to call it a day and disband. The official statement was found on their Facebook Page
“As of today, November 7th 2015, SISTER SIN is no more.
We know this may come as a surprise to many of you; honestly, it kinda took us by surprise too.
What was supposed to be a short eight weeks break, suddenly & unfortunately, turned in to the demise of the band.
– We have been touring and recording in a relentless schedule since 2008 and I guess we burned the candle in both ends and hit a wall. When we finally had the opportunity to step back and get some perspective, the motivation for some members in the band just wasn’t there any more… Continue reading Sweden’s Sister Sin Calls It A Day (2002-2015)→
Winter is sure going to get a lot hotter now that Sister Sin’s awesome lead singer Liv Jagrell will be gracing the pages of this months issue of Penthouse Magazine. Yep, you read that correctly….Liv Jagrell is going to be in Penthouse but please don’t lose your sh*t about it because its a part of their “Sirens” column and is a very tastefully done shoot with an article about the band. Check out more below.
As you can tell, Penthouse Magazine is very excited about getting Liv Jagrell into the issue. “Liv Jagrell of Sweden’s Sister Sin has powerful pipes, a hot body, and can definitely kick your ass,” Penthouse writes. “With the band’s fifth album, ‘Black Lotus,’ and a fall European tour under her belt, she’s poised to dominate the U.S. heavy-metal scene … Jagrell’s voice transcends most modern metal singers, invoking more the classic, soaring sound of Judas Priest’s Rob Halford or maybe even Iron Maiden’s Bruce Dickinson. When she’s not recording or on the road, her ‘day job’ is just as metal—she’s a personal trainer who can kick your ass and make you do squats till you puke.” Continue reading Rawr; Sister Sin’s Liv Jagrell Is In Penthouse Magazine→
The Scoop: The Metal Republic of NYC has not had their reigning Queen Doro Pesch visit for a concert since about 2011 if my figures are correct so that makes it wonderful news that she will be returning to us all and bringing Sister Sin along for the ride. I’ve enjoyed the music of Doro since she was in Warlock, and have continually been impressed by her genuine positivity towards her loyal fans as she delivers the goods on the stage like few others even dare attempt. When you go to a Doro show, you are entertained. Let’s add to that the coolness of Sister Sin, who I have seen a couple of times now and enjoyed very much. Fronted by the beautiful Liv Jagrell, this is a band that knows how to dish it out. In my Metal opinion, this is a great pairing of talent. That being said, I am super excited to announce that thanks to the folks at the B.B. King’s management side, PiercingMetal.com is going to send some of you to the show for free. Read on. Artist: Michael Schenker Group Venue: Irving Plaza (New York, NY) Opener: Lynch Mob, Sister Sin Date: 7/31/2010 Label: Independent Artist
July had been a very excellent month for concerts so far but today the buzz across the Metal Republic was all intensely focused on the wedding of Chelsea Clinton………oh wait, I’m mistaken since none of us gave a rats ass about that stuff and instead we were all preparing ourselves for the return of the one and only Michael Schenker Group. MSG had performed over at The Gramercy Theatre last year and this killer show found a revitalized Michael Schenker which was a great treat as the musician had been dealing with “issues” for a couple of years prior to it. Now back on top of his game he continues to tour with singer Gary Barden at the microphone. This tour would continue to showcase the talents of guitarist/keyboardist Wayne Findlay as well and bring along the surprise new bass work of Elliot Dean and legendary drummer Carmine Appice. The tour also gave us two opening bands with Sister Sin and Lynch Mob. Here is how the hot night in NYC went down for those who were foolish enough to pass it by.
