Music Luminaries Share Their New Year’s Metal Resolutions for 2012: Part 4

So as we hit the three days left in 2011 mark let me ask you something. Did anyone else think that the year flew by us at a record pace? I know it did for me and perhaps this instant society we are living in with the Internet being such a core of our daily happenings and Facebook/Twitter addictions being par for the course are the reasons. Whatever the case may be here we are once more in our presentation of the “New Year’s Metal Resolutions for 2012” from some of the finest musical people that I have had the opportunity to interact with. Please enjoy our fantastic fourth chapter.

Johnny Kelly (drummer for Type O Negative, Seventh Void, A Pale Horse Named Death): Not sure if I have a resolution or not. My first one isn’t music related and that’s to stop smoking! My musical one though is to keep working hard to be able to do something that I still love doing. I want to see great things happen for APHND and I want the new Seventh Void record to come out in 2012!

Steve Blaze (lead guitarist for Lillian Axe): …to become a better, more patient human being. This will enable me to become more well rounded and pure iin all aspects of what I feel are the important elements of a truly great musician. Talent is one aspect but the soul and spirit are what drive it to its limits.

Margarita Monet (lead vocals for Edge Of Paradise): My New Year’s Metal Resolution is, besides writing the best song ever made, to further solidify and spread the heavy sound of my band. It’s not very common these days that bands have their own sound distinguishing them from thousands of other bands, like Black Sabbath or Iron Maiden have, when you hear their songs, you instantly know that it’s Sabbath! So this is the New Year’s resolution, to strive to create epic music with a sound that’s unique to ourselves and of course to tour the world and make everyone hear it 🙂

Label News: A Pale Horse Named Death Signs To Steamhammer/SPV

Every now and again I’ll be using the blog to share some label news when it comes to a band that we’ve been looking into or are longtime fans of. I figure that by doing these we help keep the buzz about the groups a little louder. This little bit of news comes from one of my fave publicity channels and announces the signing of A Pale Horse Named Death to Steamhammer/SPV Records. Dig in.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: Hey this is cool news for me since I have long enjoyed the label output from Steamhammer/SPV AND I have been digging into the gloomy Metal sounds of APHND as far as the tracks that I have heard go so think this is a great pairing. I haven’t seen the band live yet so if you are someone who has please let us all know what they are like in concert. Folks with topical viewpoints about this new label signing can offer them up in the comments section below.

Seventh Void & Suicide City @ Highline Ballroom (2/11/2010)

Artist: Seventh Void
Venue: Highline Ballroom (New York, NY)
Opener: Suicide City, Acey Slade, Pui, The Party Death
Date: 2/11/2010
Label: Big Vin Records

I think that that it was still summer when I last attended one of the Cirque du Rock events over at the Highline Ballroom and here we were again at their event entitled “Hypothermia”. It was the perfect name for the show when one considers how the city had just been hit by a reasonably powerful blizzard. There was about a foot of snow piled up in the city and thanks to the snow plows people were able to get out and do some rocking at the venue with all the talented people that were involved tonight. This was a loaded menu to say the least and it would once again feature CDR acts and these would come between a seemingly endless roster of bands that would be playing their Metal and Punk Rock hearts out. Delivering the musical goods tonight would be Seventh Void, the crushing Heavy Metal band that features Johnny and Kenny from Type-O-Negative, Suicide City, Acey Slade and the Dark Party, Pui and The Party Death. That’s one hell of a lineup and the evening would also be slightly historic for it was reported earlier in the week that tonight’s show would be the final Suicide City performance ever. Our musical program would start off with The Party Death and while the doors for the show opened at 7pm, the event would not be rolling along until after 8pm. Here is how everything went for those who sadly missed out.
