I’m a few days behind in the news based on a battery of things that had to post on the website straight away but below you can check out all the necessary scoop on the building in progress of “Dark Universe”. Check out the full press release and then I’ll close out with some editorial.
The Press Release:
Universal Pictures announced today that its series of films reviving the studio’s classic monster characters for a new generation will be known as “Dark Universe.” The motion logo for the new initiative features a musical theme composed by Danny Elfman and will debut in theaters preceding The Mummy, which will be released on June 9. The announcement includes details of the enterprise relaunching Universal’s iconic characters into modern cinema, as well as confirmations of superstar cast and that Academy Award® winner Bill Condon will direct Bride of Frankenstein.
Dark Universe was begun by core creatives Alex Kurtzman, who also serves as director and producer of The Mummy, the inaugural film in the new classic monster series, and The Mummy producer Chris Morgan, who recently saw The Fate of the Furious, the sixth film he wrote for the Fast & Furious franchise, claim the biggest opening in history at the global box office when it opened on April 14. Also joining the enterprise to inspire and entertain a new generation are such visionary talents as Oscar winner® Christopher McQuarrie (Mission: Impossible series, The Usual Suspects) and David Koepp (War of the Worlds, Jurassic Park). PiercingMetal Thoughts: Now I did promise a little more personal insight once the full trailer was released and here we go. I liked this one a lot since it shows some of the backstory that drives this chapter in the POTC franchise. We also see a young Jack which should make some interesting moments as well. There seem to be some truly unique characters in this one and did you see the undead shark? Whew. So what did you readers think of the trailer? Has this firmed up your interest in the film. Let me know what you think down in the comments below.
In an effort to really build up the popular film media side of the outlet, I’ve decided to add the occasional trailer for the live-action Disney films which I did for “Maleficent” some time ago. When I saw the teaser trailer for the 5th and I believe final chapter in the “Pirates of The Caribbean” franchise I knew I wanted to lend some time to this one as well. I loved all of the preceding films and found them to be good ole adventures fun so here is the teaser trailer for “Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales”.
