Dream Theater is a band that knows that they have diehard fans everywhere and that is the reason that they are announcing a second leg for their “Distance Over Time” Tour. Take a look down below to the full press release, poster and the dates. See you at the close.
The Press Release:
Two-time Grammy-nominated and millions-selling progressive music titans Dream Theater are currently in the middle of a successful European tour. With three weeks left on that run, the band is turning its attention back to North America with the announcement of the next leg of the acclaimed The Distance Over Time Tour – Celebrating 20 Years of Scenes From A Memory. The next leg of the tour will kick off at the end of September and run through mid-November. The 27-date trek will see the band making stops in Louisville, KY; Cleveland, OH; Baltimore, MD; Long Island, NY; and San Jose, CA to name a few. Information on tickets for all upcoming shows as well as VIP packages can be found at www.dreamtheater.net.
The first leg of tour gathered plenty of critical acclaim and fan praise due in large part to the diverse setlist the band created. Dream Theater featured tracks from their latest release Distance Over Time (InsideOutMusic /Sony Music) and selections from their 30-year career along with a nightly celebration of the 20th Anniversary of their seminal concept album Metropolis Part 2: Scenes From A Memory that the band performed in its entirety. The band will continue that trend on the Fall tour to create an evening of over 2 hours and 45 minutes of Dream Theater at their masterful best making this a concert event to not be missed. Now its time to say this once again as the folks at Looney Tunes records in Long Island are offering an exclusive listening experience of the brand new Dream Theater album “Distance Over Time” in NYC and by the way, the band WILL be in attendance. PiercingMetal Thoughts: Hey I don’t want to add anything else to the mix. I’ve heard a couple of the tracks already and this sounds damned good. I am unsure if I will be in attendance at this event though since I will likely need a few days of solitude in the PiercingMetal Batcave post the annual Toy Fair. As you read this I am actually just finishing off my first day of this industry event and have three more loaded days to go. It is a daunting affair that I love to attend but once its done I shut off everything to recoup the energy. Maybe I will bounce back and be there though since I have been a fan of Dream Theater since the very first album was being played once in a while over on the WSOU radio station out of Seton Hall University. What do you think about this one? Will you be in attendance? The ticket link is down below.
Progressive Metal fans the world over are going to be stoked for the latest news from the legendary Dream Theater who have just announced their upcoming album and subsequent tour. Let’s take a look at the press release below. I’ll be back at the close for sure with some additional editorial.
The Press Release:
Two-time Grammy-nominated and millions-selling progressive music titans Dream Theater announce the forthcoming worldwide release of their 14th studio album, Distance Over Time on February 22, 2019. Distance Over Time showcases a newfound creativity for Dream Theater while maintaining the elements that have garnered them devoted fans around the globe. The album also marks the first for the band’s new label InsideOutMusic / Sony Music. The artwork was created by long-time cover collaborator Hugh Syme (Rush, Iron Maiden, Stone Sour). Distance Over Time was produced by John Petrucci, mixed by Ben Grosse and mastered by Tom Baker.
“When I listen back to the album, I can distinctly recall every moment of the writing process; where I was standing in the room, what inspired us in that instant and the meaning behind each song. As a producer, my goal was to try and create the best-sounding Dream Theater record we’ve ever made so that listeners can just be enveloped in the music. I really wanted this recording to truly reflect the spirit, joy and passion that went into making the album and for people to walk away feeling some of the organic nature, personality and raw energy that the band captured while together in the studio. For me, I think it accomplishes that and I hope that other people will feel the same way,” explains John Petrucci. Hey there readers, so I’m not actually “IN” the Metal Command HQ at the time but learned about this tour when I decided to open up some Facebook Pages that I enjoy and wow would you look at that, the mighty Dream Theater is returning to our shores with a very classic album to celebrate. Read the bands official skinny on the matter along with the dates and then I will close it out with some editorial insight.
The Press Release:
Dream Theater has announced the third and final leg of their “Images, Words & Beyond 25th Anniversary Tour,” which sees the pioneering group celebrating the 25th anniversary of their milestone RIAA gold-certified album, Images & Words. The North American headline dates kick off October 25th at Oakland’s Fox Theatre. The trek takes the band throughout the US, including dates at NYC’s Beacon Theatre and L.A.’s Wiltern, as well as a stop at the Sony Centre in Toronto.
Progressive Metal giants Dream Theater have announced their “Along For The Ride Tour” which will hit numerous regions in early 2014. The show will be in the “An Evening With” format which means fans shall get a two full sets of the bands material and no opening act. Those types of tours were always fascinating to me since the fan got the most out of the bands catalog as opposed to their having a couple of well-deserving lead off acts.
