PiercingMetal Thoughts: I can’t think of a better way to start off a brutally cold Saturday morning than with this news from the Swedish Power Metal artisans Hammerfall. I love these focused album release performances because they help generate interest in an expanded tour run. Having seen the band on numerous occasions I can safely say that if you are considering going to check them out that you will not be disappointed. Though its almost a year away still from happening, I am marking my calendar for the Brooklyn Bazaar show. What do you readers think about these “Three Nights Of Dominion”? Chime in down below and let us raise the hammer together for Metal in 2019!!!
There is nothing I like more than a great concert touring package and let’s face it, while there are a lot of awesome headlining runs happening, there aren’t always a lot of support bands that make sense at the end of the day. That’s not the case with this announcement from earlier today that presents us with the pairing of the mighty Hammerfall and Dutch sensations Delain. Check out the poster, press release and the dates and then I’ll return with some added thoughts.

HAMMERFALL Guitarist Oscar Dronjak cannot wait to return to North America:

Artist: Hammerfall Title: “Hammer High” (Single) Label: Napalm Record Release Date: 9/23/2016 Genre: Power Metal Rating: 3.5/5
The second single from Hammerfall’s upcoming album “Built To Last” comes care of the song “Hammer High” which I can say is quite the sing-along anthem sort of number that fans have come to love from a band like this. I’ve been a fan of Hammerfall for over a decade now (not as long as some others of course but still) and my main issue is how the tune starts off exactly like Nightwish’s cover of the Gary Moore classic “Over The Hills and Far Away”. I mean its beat for beat on the drums and I had to wonder if their own drummer was thinking of the tune when he put his mind to the skins for this one. That critique out of the way the song is in its defense on the catchy side. Cans and company have made sure to offer up a song that should get all of the audience at the shows with fists raised into the air singing along with them. Artist: Hammerfall Title: “The Sacred Vow” (Single) Label: Napalm Records Release Date: 9/9/2016 Genre: Power Metal Rating: 4/5
The mighty Hammerfall has returned and not only will some new thundering Power Metal come our way with the November release of “Built To Last”, but the band is now a part of the Napalm Records roster of artists. Just the other day the band issued the first single from this release with “The Sacred Vow” and I am happy to report that this is exactly what I expected it to be. A rock solid demonstration of the type of Power Metal that fans have come to love from the likes of Hammerfall. They’ve not moved to the left of center or changed style and instead continued down the warriors path into battle. The guitars are crisp and are driven forward by powerful drumming while singer Joachim Cans rallies us all to their cause. It’s a catchy number that might be fun in the live set so let’s see how the rest of the release sounds when it comes our way in November. See you then.
Artist: Hammerfall Venue: The Fillmore NY (New York, NY) Opener: Powerglove, Arctic Flame Date: 3/7/2010 Label: Nuclear Blast Records
The ringing in my skull from the righteous smiting that was delivered by Kreator last night had finally subsided and now it was off to do battle once again in the fields of Metal and face those Templar’s of the Metal way – Sweden’s Hammerfall. By my recollection it has been about five years since the band has been over to this side of the pond and that last show was with Germany’s own Metal harlequins EdGuy. That was an amazing event and one that found the Metal faithful hoping that it would not be too long before we saw Hammerfall return and sadly the span of time would be about five years give or take a month. Tonight the band would bring with them the local support of Arctic Flame who we have seen in action a number of times and Powerglove who would be an entirely new experience for me. March Metal Madness continues. Starting off the night would be Arctic Flame from Bayonne, NJ and we would run late to the show and end up missing their full set. We felt this was ok since we had seen them before and given them some solid attention and also because we were sure that they would be back around again. We did learn that there was a new singer in place and also a new guitar player. Good luck to you lads with your new members. Next up would be Powerglove.
