Tuesday is not usually known for being a day that makes folks happy (since its still so far away from the weekend and all) but with the updates from the Zakk Wylde media side of the fence today just might be the exception. Read on down to learn some awesome news and some special anniversary touring. I’ll return at the close of course.
The Press Release:
Entertainment One (eOne) has licensed the complete back catalog of Black Label Society (BLS), the hard rock group led by American guitar icon Zakk Wylde. In addition to the band’s last three albums which were released on eOne, the Company has licensed the following titles: Sonic Brew, Stronger Than Death, 1919 Eternal, The Blessed Hellride, Hangover Music Vol. VI, Mafia, and Shot to Hell. Fans can expect these titles in never-before-released formats over the next few years.

We’re only about ten days out from the next full length Black Label Society album “Grimmest Hits” and with the timing so close, I was actually surprised to find another single being released with “Trampled Down Below”. Since I’ve already discussed “All That Once Shined” HERE, I figure let’s keep the overview train running. “Trampled” is longer than the other track and begins with a solemn riff and tasty bass and when the twin guitars begin blazing over the pounding drums you find yourself wrapped up into a solid headbanging track. I guess it was about a month ago that I shared the news about not only the upcoming BLS Tour (seen HERE in case you missed it) but also about their forthcoming in January album “The Grimmest Hits”. Well, the time has come for the first single from said album to be given a few thoughts about and here we go into the Berzerker fray to discuss what Zakk Wylde and Company are planning on dishing out. Zakk starts off with a softer voice and riff before a crunching, very Doom-laden flow take over. The tune itself is a powerful and moody groove and when the chorus came in there was some slight Alice In Chains vibe to it. I didn’t mind this at all since today there are influences pulled from everywhere. Continue reading “All That Once Shined” (Single) by Black Label Society→
You might laugh at this but I am still a little bit sore in the feet from my four days of wandering the recent NY Comic Con that took place over the past weekend at the Javits Center. With the borderline exhaustion slowly fading away I was happy to find some easy to post notices such as the new that Zakk Wylde will be bringing the Black Label Society to the masses with a tour that features both Corrosion Of Conformity and Red Fang as support. Take a look at the press release and all the dates below.

Artist: Black Label Society Venue: Best Buy Theater (New York, NY) Opener: Down, Devil You Know, Butcher Babies Date: 5/10/2014 Label: eOne Entertainment
I had last caught Black Label Society during the 2013 Gigantour that featured Megadeth and Newsted (the band with former Metallica/Voivod bassist Jason Newsted in case you were unaware). Now that tour itself actually had three more bands on the daily roster but not during its NYC stop which was instead broken up into two shows and left the one without BLS and Newsted being cancelled. For that show Zakk and the BLS boys were supporting the live release “Unblackened” which is a solid recommendation in my book because it was a heavier version of an Unplugged album and from top to bottom this was some raw stuff. There was even a video release to go along with it. Fast forwarding to where we are this evening, it was now time for what was called “The Revolver Golden Gods Tour” and this event seemed to work in tandem with the magazines own awards show. You’ve heard of “The Golden Gods Awards” right? Good, let’s continue then. The four bands on this touring package would begin with Butcher Babies, Devil You Know, Down and close out with the headlining Black Label Society. Since I always find a massive event like this of interest I would get there nice and early in order to be able to bring you thoughts and images on each of the performers. Butcher Babies would be the first item of focus – here we go. Continue reading Black Label Society @ Best Buy Theater (5/10/2014)→
