The buzz started a few hours ago when some cryptic but still rather telling Instagram and Facebook posts began making the rounds. It was pretty obvious what was going to be the case because a visual of the famous Misfits fiend on the marquee of NYC’s own Madison Square Garden had to mean that they were planning a visit and as it turns out……they were. Read on.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: Hey Fiends, what can I possibly add to this that you all aren’t already thinking? I mean it’s pretty damned awesome and exciting news that the Misfits will be performing at the worlds most famous arena and bringing along both Rancid and The Damned as support. My hope is that EVERYONE gets there early enough to see The Damned especially because they have been a favorite Punk band of mine for many years. Rancid I like a handful of tracks from but I cannot say that I’ve ever really followed them and their career before. I’m excited to finally get the chance to check them out. Now, having caught the Misfits show at The Prudential Center last year I can only state that it’s going to be a great time for anyone in attendance at MSG. Of course, we might have to lock our mobile devices in the little foam baggies for this show like that NJ gig at The Rock but I anticipate them all getting destroyed midway through the second or third song for sure. Good luck to security in advance who have to police the folks with their mobiles in hand that night. You will have your work cut out for you. Closing up I am wondering what you readers think about this news. Will you be on point to support Glenn, Jerry, Doyle, Dave and Acey? Chime in down below in the comments section.
You know we love announcing tours and special one off gigs and that makes this recent alert from the legendary Misfits something exciting. Check out the poster where the band revealed two additional shows for their spectacular reunion performances. Watch out Colorado and Seattle, the 138 are coming for ya!!!!
PiercingMetal Thoughts: I just loved the show that took place in our region last year over at The Rock aka The Prudential Center and had a blast with my friends rocking out to their classic songs as they hit us like artillery. I missed all of the openers except for Suicidal Tendencies but that night I didn’t care at all. It was good fun from beginning to end. I think the folks that are getting to also enjoy a set by The Damned are in for a treat and if that band is for some reason new to you, check out a not too long ago Concert Review we did HERE. They are also a favorite Punk band of mine, and actually one that I listened to BEFORE ever even giving Misfits a try. Weird huh. Anyway, what do you folks think about this news and do you more localized folks in the readership think they will bring this to Madison Square Garden, Barclays Center or Nassau Coliseum? The Press Release:
Today, The Original Misfits announced a very special 2019 U.S. date that will take place Saturday, June 29th at the Banc of California Stadium in Los Angeles, CA. The Original Misfits features original singer/songwriter Glenn Danzig and original bassist Jerry Only. Rise Against, The Distillers, Anti-Nowhere League and Cro-Mags will join the epic event as special guests.
Tickets go on sale to the general public beginning Friday, April 5th at 10am local time at LiveNation.com.
From the time of their first gig in 1977, the MISFITS and their iconic imagery went on to become one of the most crucially influential, genre-defying bands to ever emerge from North America. The MISFITS significance extends well beyond the narrowed path of punk rock, metal & hardcore. Although not cognizant of how significant they would become, what the Original MISFITS achieved in their initial seven-year window deconstructed and redefined rock music.
The MISFITS with Danzig’s anthemic songs and unmistakable voice, Only’s ferocious bass sound, and the Original MISFITS melody-induced choruses and authentically bruising musicianship, cemented their importance with all ensuing generations. And now legions of diehard fans from around the world will have the opportunity to hear the Original Band that forges a level of intensity unprecedented in the new millennium. Don’t miss this important chapter in the legendary band’s legacy of brutality.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: All I will add to this is that if you can secure a ticket that you should do it. My friends and I caught the show at the Prudential Center some months back and it was a thrill ride into Horror Punk history. We don’t have any photos from it of course since no professionals appeared to be permitted and the venue enforced a strict lock your mobile device in a protective bag for the show so thanks for that Glenn. I still loved the experience and think that this is something that the fans will enjoy. I highly suggest you get their early enough to see all of the acts. Don’t miss out and instead get your money’s worth. What do you think about this? Chime in down below.
Hold onto your hats Chicago because The Original Misfits are coming back to visit you and will likely leave a whole lot of chaos in their wake. Sadly, I didn’t see any sort of press copy that lines out and extols the colorful history of the group and only received the poster below in my email. Since this is a one night only experience, I am thinking that it speaks volumes just the same. Do you agree?
PiercingMetal Thoughts: Having recently caught this show at Newark’s Prudential Center, I’ve gotta say that you are going to want to get yourself out to this if you live in the region and can do so. Hearing these songs done by their original creators once again teamed up was fantastic for me, and of course my show also featured guitarist Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein with compliments from Acey Slade (guitar) and Dave Lombardo (drums). I’m not sure why Doyle isn’t mentioned on this poster but perhaps he is being held back as a big surprise reveal. I would hate that fans of the classic lineup would miss out on him if he had other touring commitments at the time of this show but let’s see what happens. The openers for this performance are also strong with the legendary Punk group Fear and Venom Inc. and Power Trip. It’s the kind of show that you are going to want to arrive for nice and early to enjoy all of the bands. Oh and before I go, let me point out that considering how the last few shows were, this one is very likely also going to be a no-phone show which means you must secure your mobile device in a sealed pouch or leave it locked in your car hidden from prying eyes. That’s all I have on this one, what do you think about the news? Are you excited? Or could you care less? Chime in down below.
