Hello there readers and welcome to another post from my comprehensive exploration of the 2016 American International Toy Fair. I think this narrative marks my 8th or 9th post about the massive event at Javits Center but with so much to explore and share I have to do this properly. I’m up to the Funko stuff which I love to death. Let’s get started.
The Funko pavilion is always a massive space at Toy Fair and such a space needs a guardian. I can think of no one better than this larger than life Hulkbuster Armor Iron Man. There is also a giant Batman but we’ve presented him here on the site a number of times already and now its someone else’s turn.
I’m not going to speak much during this post as much as I will chime in as the various lines come past us. Most readers know the characters being shown so I don’t need to repeat. These smaller figurines are known as “Dorbz” and they are adorable. Oh I see the play on words now. Clever.
The other day, Gerard Way (singer of My Chemical Romance) tweeted about the upcoming Pop! Rocks figurines by Funko that will feature his likeness. Well, as he would look as a member of Pop! World. You can take a look at the assorted versions down below and I can only suggest that you get on point if you need these for your collection. I have a feeling that an artist like Way might disappear off the shelves faster than some of the other ones that have come out. For the record, Way is the only member of the band to get a Pop! figurine, the other cats are not represented but oh well, I guess that happens.
It’s time to get Kawai as Funko presents Babymetal as a part of their “Pop! Rocks” collection. Check out the official statement from the company and a photo of the soon to be released figures.
Pop! Rocks now includes pop metal from Japan! The incredibly popular Babymetal trio – comprised of Su-metal, Yuimetal, and Moametal – mixes elements of heavy metal with pop sensibilities! Don’t be fooled by their sweet appearance!
PiercingMetal Thoughts: I love, love, love the Funko Pop figures and am still kicking myself for missing all of the KISS ones that came out a couple of years ago. I didn’t realize that they were limited runs but now that I know I am definitely grabbing myself a set of these Babymetal ones and I don’t care what you think about this group because I really get a kick out of it. Now let’s just add about how awesome these Funko Pop! figures are as well, because they just are. I know so many people who are buying these and I see a ton of them at Toy Fair when I go exploring that convention. These editions are def worth adding to your collection and even more so if you are rallying behind Babymetal and the Fox God. What do you think of these? Will you buy them? I wonder if they will make some for Ghost. That would be insane. Before we go please check out some additional product photos of these three awesome Pop! Rocks creations. Three chapters deep and now welcome to the fourth segment as PiercingMetal continues to wander the Jacob Javits Center for Toy Fair 2011. So far this was a massive feast for the eyes and senses if you were a media representative like Skeleton Pete and I were and while we had thus far seen a bevy of coolness, this particular chapter let’s us show off the music and Metal related things that we saw. With that being the case, please continue along and by all means enjoy the presentation. Continue reading PiercingMetal Goes To Toy Fair 2011: Chapter Four→
