Outside of the success of “Wonder Woman”, “Aquaman” and the potentially fun appeal of the “SHAZAM!” film (which opens this Friday); The DC Extended Universe is a hot mess. Films like “Man Of Steel” were moderately received and “Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice” was a ponderous effort that bore little reward while “Justice League”, well, let’s not discuss the absolute bomb that this ended up being. Resultant of this there will be offshoot films that while featuring DC Comics characters will not be connected to a properly shared universe. The first such film is “Joker” and the teaser clip was just released so let’s take a look.
It was only a few short days ago that I shared the trailer for the new season of AHS with their “American Horror Story: Apocalypse” and if you didn’t see that please click HERE to check that out. It looks creepy and that series begins tonight so get your DVR programmed or be home on time to see it as it broadcasts. Here is the dramatic poster which I’ve followed with the casting and brief premise.
Premise: After the nuclear apocalypse, the world’s chosen elite survive in secure outposts created by the mysterious Cooperative in “American Horror Story: Apocalypse.” On the American West Coast, Ms. Wilhemina Venable and Ms. Miriam Mead run Outpost Three with an iron fist. The unexpected arrival of Michael Langdon, a Cooperative representative determined to save society with a secret paradise, throws their order into chaos. However, underneath the surface of humanity’s salvation lies a battlefield for the final conflict between good and evil. (quoting YouTube). If you’ve been following the FX Original Series “American Horror Story” for any length of time, you will be happy to know that not only will it be returning in the coming days but that this brand new epic will bring us to the end of the world as we know it (feel free to hum along to REM’s classic song). With that being said, here now is the trailer for “American Horror Story: Apocalypse”. Dim the lights and let’s take a look
Horror fans must be delighted that the anthology series “American Horror Story” is now at its sixth season with “Roanoke”; and I admit that I almost didn’t even see this one coming based on all the other stuff I’ve had to deliver to your table in terms of the Heavy Music scene and our comics and toy coverages from all the conventions. Whew. Are you planning on watching this one? Check your local listings for times and availability for you to program it or catch On Demand and then examine the poster, premise and cast down below.
Plot: Presented as a paranormal documentary series titled My Roanoke Nightmare in the first half of the season, the story follows a married couple whose experiences are reenacted by actors. Shelby and Matt Miller move from Los Angeles, California, to a house in North Carolina following a brutal assault which left Matt temporarily hospitalized and caused Shelby to have a miscarriage. As soon as the couple settles into their new home, located on a farmstead in rural North Carolina where the Roanoke Colony settled after their infamous disappearance, strange and paranormal occurrences begin to haunt them and Matt’s sister, Lee Harris. In the five-episode documentary, Shelby is portrayed by the extravagant English actress Audrey Tindall, Matt by the conceited Dominic Banks and Lee by Monet Tumusiime. Have you watched any off the past “American Horror Story” series when they aired over the last couple of years? There are three of them if you haven’t already dug into them and there is some seriously quirky and spooky business going on in each one. The interesting thing about the show is that each new season is a different premise and not just one long continuing storyline. What began with the “Murder House” and led us to the “Asylum” caught us in a magical web with “Coven” and here we are now with nickels in hand lining up at the circus for its latest offering “Freak Show” which airs tonight on FX (check your local listings for times). Check out the poster below that I borrowed from The Hollywood Reporter since it was nicely sized and then we can dig into the premise, cast and more.
The Plot: The fourth season will be set in Jupiter, Florida in 1952. It will be centered around one of the few remaining freak shows at the time, as its members do anything to keep the business alive. The season will focus on the conflict between the freaks and the “evil forces” who do not understand them. The season will also feature a “clown killer” and a “bearded lady”.
