Anime NYC powered by Crunchyroll announced today that international performance artist and pop star Poppy will be joining Anime NYC this year as a Guest of Honor. This will be Poppy’s first appearance at Anime NYC. Poppy has a legion of followers online and is one of the most talked-about musical artists across the globe. She will appear at Anime NYC to speak about her Japanese influences and manga-inspired graphic novel, Genesis 1.

Anime NYC is New York’s largest anime, manga, and Japanese pop culture convention. It will welcome over 40,000 attendees when it returns to the Javits Center for its third year on November 15-17, 2019. In addition to Poppy, it will showcase major names from across the anime world including Yoshiyuki Tomino, creator and director of the 40-year-old Mobile Suit Gundam; Riichiro Inagaki and Boich, creators of hit manga series Dr. STONE; and Lantis Matsuri 2019 at Anime NYC, a mega-concert with Japanese musicians JAM Project, TRUE, ZAQ, and Guilty Kiss from Love Live! Sunshine!! Aqours.

Rie Kugimiya Makes US Appearance Debut at Anime NYC

Anime NYC powered by Crunchyroll today announced acclaimed anime voice actress Rie Kugimiya will participate in this year’s Anime NYC as an Official Guest. This will be the first US appearance by Ms. Kugimiya, who is one of the most prolific voice actresses in Japan and known for voicing beloved characters for over 25 years. Her rare appearance will include an even rarer autograph signing exclusively at Anime NYC.

Miku Ito from BanG Dream! Girls Band Party! Comes to Anime NYC

The Press Release:
Miku Ito, born October 12, is represented by Style Cube. She is most known for her roles in BanG Dream! (as Kokoro Tsurumaki), The Quintessential Quintuplets (as Miku Nakano), THE iDOLM@STER: Million Live! (as Yuriko Nanao), and Futsū no Joshikōsei ga Locodol Yattemita (as Nanako Usami). She began activities as a solo artist in 2016.

AT ANIME NYC:
Miku Ito will be appearing in the Anime NYC Masquerade to host a special concert as Kokoro Tsurumaki from BanG Dream! Plus she’ll appear on a panel and Japanese style “Owatashi-kai” meet and greet session with fans!

Please note, Miku Ito will not be signing autographs at Anime NYC. Instead, her “Owatashi-kai” meet and greet session is a chance to meet her up close. During this session, she’ll meet with fans individually and hand each a small gift.

ABOUT BANG DREAM!
BanG Dream! is a next-generation girls band project, a mixed-media franchise consisting of elements such as animation, comics, original songs, and live performances where the voice actresses perform on the same instruments as their characters. BanG Dream! Girls Band Party! is a mega-hit smartphone game launched in the US in April 2018 and centered around the world of BanG Dream!

Anime NYC powered by Crunchyroll today announced the globally renowned “Lantis Matsuri” concert series will host its first edition in New York City in partnership with Anime NYC on November 15, 2019. This special concert at New York City’s largest Japanese pop culture convention will celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Japanese music label Lantis and feature popular anime song or “anisong” performers JAM Project, TRUE, ZAQ, and Guilty Kiss from Love Live! Sunshine!! Aqours.

Anime NYC will bring together over 40,000 attendees when it returns to the Javits Center for its third year on November 15-17, 2019. It will welcome major guests from across the US and Japan including Riichiro Inagaki and Boichi (creators of Dr. STONE). Lantis Matsuri will take place inside the Javits Center’s Special Events Hall on the evening of Friday, November 15. A separate ticket is required to attend Lantis Matsuri.

GWAR Announces Unveiling of Dave Brockie Memorial Marker

It’s hard to believe that five years have gone by since the Metal world lost the talented vision of Dave Brockie aka Oderus Urungus, leader of the legendary GWAR. Earlier today, news about a monument to his memory was released and I am sharing this with you below so check it out.

The Press Release:
At 2:00 PM on Friday, August 30th, 2019, GWAR will unveil a monument to the band’s co-founder and longtime leader Dave Brockie, which will be set in Richmond, Virginia’s famed Hollywood Cemetery (412 S Cherry St, Richmond, VA). All are invited to the unveiling, and to a free party the next day, August 31st, at the GWARbar (217 W Clay St, Richmond, VA).
