Announcing “Surf City Blitz” 2018

logo surf city blitz

I received this notice yesterday and since I am heading out of town for a few days in a couple of hours, I programmed it to run on its own while I try to rest before the flight out of NYC. As you can see this is another music festival that takes place outside of the metro area in which we wander but it sure sounds interesting. Take a glance at the full press release down below.

The Press Release:
Surf City Blitz brings one of the greatest punk rock lineups in the history of Southern California—including some of the biggest bands to come out of Orange County—together with Roland Sands Presents The Moto Beach Classic’s world-class motorcycle racing, and more on Saturday, October 27 and Sunday, October 28 at the world famous Huntington State Beach as a part of the SeaLegs Live Event Series. This new weekend destination festival will feature an all-star lineup of punk rock legends performing on the shore of the Pacific Ocean in picturesque Orange County, California. With the support of California State Parks, this incredible event is sure to make a splash in its inaugural year.

The daily music lineup for Surf City Blitz is as follows (subject to change):
Saturday October 27: The Offspring, Pennywise, Suicidal Tendencies, FEAR, T.S.O.L., Snuff, Mad Caddies, Voodoo Glow Skulls and more
Sunday October 28: Social Distortion, Rancid, Bad Religion, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, The Interrupters, The Wrecks, Aaron Lee Tasjan and more

To top things off, the second annual Moto Beach Classic combines Super Hooligan street bike flat track racing, drag and mini bike racing, art, custom motorcycles and, of course, the love of two wheels. The event will feature a dirt track on the sand for the first time ever and two days of Super Hooligan flat track racing.

Mike Ness of Social Distortion said, “This is an incredible line-up of bands over two days, and combined with Roland Sand’s Moto Beach Classic, this is going to be an awesome show. To be a part of an event like this that’s never been done before is pretty cool. It’s going to be a lot of fun.”

Dexter Holland of The Offspring added, “Can’t wait to hang out on the beach with some of our SoCal punk friends and idols when we play Surf City Blitz.”

Roland Sands of Roland Sands Design, founder and producer of The Moto Beach Classic, explained, “The Moto Beach Classic is coming back bigger than ever as the Super Hooligans join the Surf City Blitz this October! It’s been a dream of mine to build a dirt track on the beach and we are making that happen with berm bleachers next to a massive stage with the sickest OC lineup of all time. The Offspring, Social D, Rancid, Pennywise, Bad Religion, Suicidal Tendencies…the list keeps going. It’s a moto lover’s dream with drag races, mini road race, bike show, moto inspired art and much more. This is the only event you have to be at in 2018!”

John Reese, Surf City Blitz festival producer and founder of Synergy Global Entertainment (SGE) said, “We couldn’t ask for a more perfect setting to enjoy performances from the greatest collection of punk rock ever assembled in SoCal, combined with the mind-blowing excitement of the Moto Beach Classic, right on the sand at Southern California’s world famous Huntington State Beach! This massive event will be remembered for years to come! I want to thank California State Parks for allowing us to hold the event at such an ideal location.”

(2017 Moto Beach Classic at Bolsa Chica State Beach)

Last year’s inaugural Moto Beach Classic was a one-day festival where, from sunup to sundown, SeaLegs at the Beach in Bolsa Chica was at capacity and filled with lovers of all types of creativity and counterculture. At any given moment, engines could be heard on the purpose-built hooligan flat track, while waves crashed along the shore. Live music echoed throughout until the doors closed on what many thought was one of the most entertaining and authentic moto events to hit the coast of California in years. The full live broadcast from last year’s event can be seen here: https://youtu.be/dsCMyZaoFIg

Surf City Blitz at Huntington State Beach is located at: 21601 Pacific Coast Highway in Huntington Beach, CA, and the festival entrance will be at the corner of Magnolia and Pacific Coast Highway. Limited parking will be available near the festival site. Ride sharing, public transportation and carpooling are encouraged.

Surf City Blitz partners include: 95.5 KLOS FM, Rockstar Energy Drink, Black Feather, Health Ade, Cupcake Wines, Cosmic Fog, Wienerschnitzel, Sailor Jerry, BMW Motorcycles, Indian Motorcycles, Yamaha, Super Hooligan, Bell, Motul, Dunlop, K&N, Hurley, SOKFY, Cycle Zombie and Fast Surfboards.

A portion of Surf City Blitz proceeds will be donated to the Junior Lifeguard Program and the Living the Dream Foundation. LTD Foundation bridges together the music industry with fans who are fighting terminal illnesses by giving them All Access VIP experiences backstage with their favorite bands and artists. PiercingMetal Thoughts: As this is just an event announcement and for a spectactle that we shall not be attending, I will leave the added opinion to you guys so let me hear you!!! Is this something that excites you? Should be brave the adventure? Will you be paying our travel and lodging? If you said yes to that let’s talk LOL. All kidding aside, I wouldn’t mind being in the sun and surf during the Fall months as opposed to a potentially chilly NYC. I would have just fished the NY Comic Con by then so hey and adventure is always welcome but I digress. Until we meet again my fiends.

New Guests Announced For Liberty City Anime Con!

Believe it or not, the Liberty City Anime Con is around the corner and there are still some tickets remaining for the folks who are interested. Yesterday we got a press release announcing some new guests to the proceedings and I am sharing that with you below. Read on.

The Press Release:
We have a few voice actors who have never yet appeared at a con in New York City to announce, along with some returning favorites! Get your tickets for this year!

Robert L. Mungle is a voice actor for Funimation, ADV Films, Seraphim Digital/Sentai Filmworks, and OkraTron 5000. The Right Reverend Robert L. Mungle founded The Whiskey Brothers in 1998. Since then, while the line-up has changed, it has been his outrageously loud voice that has led the group. Mungle has taken the stage everywhere from sold out theaters to seedy strip clubs. His IMDB page boasts over 100 different anime roles, from “Ghost Stories” to “Lady Death” to “Excel Saga.” He was born in Houston and you might recognize him from any of tons of anime roles, some of which include Amanojaku from Ghost Stories, Mr.8 from One Piece, Matsushita from Angel Beats, and Pedro Domingo from Excel Saga. He’s appeared in Akame ga Kill!, 009-1, Broken Blade, Gantz, Halo Legends, and many others.

Rachelle Heger is a LA based voice actress who has been a part of various video games, anime, and animated series. Born and raised in Massachusetts, Rachelle moved to the west coast to pursue voice over. Rachelle is most well known for her work as “Sucy” in Little Witch Academia and Little Witch Academia 2: The Enchanted Parade. Other roles include “Mittens” in Lala Loopsy Girls, “Olivia” in Lego Friends, “Truffles” in Disney Palace Pets, “Pearl” in the upcoming game Undead Darlings, “Gundromeda” in Heroes of Newerth, and various voices in Persona 5. Rachelle has also provided additional voices for RuneStory, Persona 4: The Animation, and Kill la Kill. In addition to voice acting, Rachelle is also a singer, and a part of re:TYE on YouTube who sing English covers of anime songs. As well as working in the anime industry, Rachelle has been a long time fan of anime and video games, and loves to keep up to date on the newest titles.
