As the year makes its steady draw to an end the plans for the brand new one begin to manifest and that means a lot of the tours at the dawn of 2017 are being announced. This one outlines the plans for the wonderful sounds of Amaranthe. Check it out below the poster and then I’ll return with some thoughts.
The Press Release:
AMARANTHE TO TOUR THE U.S. in 2017 – NEW ALBUM MAXIMALISM OUT NOW
Amaranthe are finally bringing Maximalism to North America. The band has just announced a U.S. headline tour for 2017, with support from Failure Anthem, Citizen Zero, Cypher 16, and Smash Into Pieces. The tour is the band’s first in support of its latest glorious opus, Maximalism, which came out in October via Spinefarm Records and featured the unforgettable, fist-pumping anthem “That Song.” Listen to it here.
Of the upcoming U.S. trek, guitarist Olof Mörck said, “It is with great excitement that we can now confirm the next leg of our MAXIMALISM World Tour: North America! A year has passed since our last visit and we have been looking forward greatly to return!” Continue reading Amaranthe Announces 2017 US Tour→

As someone who’s been listening to Amaranthe for a few years now (since the self-titled debut of 2011 as a matter of fact) I feel that I might be a little critical at times about what I like and what I don’t when it comes to the band. With that being said I should not dance around the notion that this new track “That Song” doesn’t fully appeal to me as its far too commercial for my liking and while I fully understand that bands change their sound to meet the audiences interest, I think the larger fan base for a band like Amaranthe leans to the heavier more Power Metal side that they have shown some skill at. Sure Elize sounds great as does Jake but I have heard much better from them. The chorus sounds like it might work out best in the live sense so I am leaving my opinion at the halfway mark because over the years I have found myself loving the live version far more than the original studio effort. Case in point comes from the legendary KISS and Cheap Trick whose “Rock And Roll All Nite” and “I Want You To Want Me” are superior versions when done live. Let’s see how this one pans out. According to the band the song entails “Describing the strife and hardships that follow with trying to pursue your dreams, ‘That Song’ embodies the turning point in your life when your direction becomes clear” – okay I’ll be open to that. Are you folks up on the band Amaranthe yet? If not you should be because they have been delivering some really awesome Metal sounds and we’ve been lucky enough to have them visiting the states on three separate occasions already while a fourth visit to NYC is only a couple of days away if you live in the Big Metal Apple like I do. The band is continuing their “Massive Addictive” tour with a headlining run and there is also a new CD of B-sides and rarities to enjoy. The other day the band released their latest video entitled “True” and I’ve embedded it for you below. The video is directed by Patric Ullaeuas.
I’ve enjoyed the music of Amaranthe for a couple of years now and was happy to see the announcement about their Fall 2015 Tour even though I had only seen them a few months ago at the Gramercy Theatre. Check out the brief press release that I received and the tour poster and then we can chat a little more about it.
