The buzz started a few hours ago when some cryptic but still rather telling Instagram and Facebook posts began making the rounds. It was pretty obvious what was going to be the case because a visual of the famous Misfits fiend on the marquee of NYC’s own Madison Square Garden had to mean that they were planning a visit and as it turns out……they were. Read on.

*** end of propaganda ***
PiercingMetal Thoughts: Hey Fiends, what can I possibly add to this that you all aren’t already thinking? I mean it’s pretty damned awesome and exciting news that the Misfits will be performing at the worlds most famous arena and bringing along both Rancid and The Damned as support. My hope is that EVERYONE gets there early enough to see The Damned especially because they have been a favorite Punk band of mine for many years. Rancid I like a handful of tracks from but I cannot say that I’ve ever really followed them and their career before. I’m excited to finally get the chance to check them out. Now, having caught the Misfits show at The Prudential Center last year I can only state that it’s going to be a great time for anyone in attendance at MSG. Of course, we might have to lock our mobile devices in the little foam baggies for this show like that NJ gig at The Rock but I anticipate them all getting destroyed midway through the second or third song for sure. Good luck to security in advance who have to police the folks with their mobiles in hand that night. You will have your work cut out for you. Closing up I am wondering what you readers think about this news. Will you be on point to support Glenn, Jerry, Doyle, Dave and Acey? Chime in down below in the comments section.
Hold onto your hats Chicago because The Original Misfits are coming back to visit you and will likely leave a whole lot of chaos in their wake. Sadly, I didn’t see any sort of press copy that lines out and extols the colorful history of the group and only received the poster below in my email. Since this is a one night only experience, I am thinking that it speaks volumes just the same. Do you agree?
PiercingMetal Thoughts: Having recently caught this show at Newark’s Prudential Center, I’ve gotta say that you are going to want to get yourself out to this if you live in the region and can do so. Hearing these songs done by their original creators once again teamed up was fantastic for me, and of course my show also featured guitarist Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein with compliments from Acey Slade (guitar) and Dave Lombardo (drums). I’m not sure why Doyle isn’t mentioned on this poster but perhaps he is being held back as a big surprise reveal. I would hate that fans of the classic lineup would miss out on him if he had other touring commitments at the time of this show but let’s see what happens. The openers for this performance are also strong with the legendary Punk group Fear and Venom Inc. and Power Trip. It’s the kind of show that you are going to want to arrive for nice and early to enjoy all of the bands. Oh and before I go, let me point out that considering how the last few shows were, this one is very likely also going to be a no-phone show which means you must secure your mobile device in a sealed pouch or leave it locked in your car hidden from prying eyes. That’s all I have on this one, what do you think about the news? Are you excited? Or could you care less? Chime in down below.
The Details: I don’t usually want to do two contests in a row and let alone for events that are in direct competition with each other but when the Powers That Be offer you some true coolness you learn to roll with the waves. Oddly enough, I had only first heard the name “DEAD CROSS” very recently and didn’t actually look into it at all. I assumed it was a brand new Black Metal band that I would get around to seeing on a package sometime soon. Imagine my surprise when I learned it was not only a new effort by the great Mike Patton of Faith No More but also a group that featured the drumming might of Dave Lombardo (that dude who was formerly in Slayer). The band will be playing two shows in our region with one at the now famous Gramercy Theatre and also the following day at The Warsaw which is the venue that this contest is for. Thought we’ve never been there before to cover a show this will effectively be our very first giveaway at this venue. It’s pretty exciting to say the least and thanks to the fine folks in the Marketing division, we are going to put a couple of lucky fans into the show on the house. That lets you have more money for merchandise which is never a bad thing. Check out the details on how to participate.
When and Where: Wednesday, September 13th @ The Warsaw (Brooklyn, NYC)
To Participate: I’ve decided to keep this an easy one and by saying that I mean I will be sticking to my usual formula of you readers giving me “3” things that you like most about the band if you have heard them already and if you are a newbie just give me “3” things that you are most interested in about their performance. Perhaps there are albums that “spoke” to you or concert appearances that sent you to the music shop to snag some of the band members earlier works. Just give me three solid answers and how important it is to be at this show. I know I make you work but I work here too so whining will not win out at all LOL. Make this good reading because the stuff remains on the website and can likely inspire new fans as well on how our freebies work. Writing “because they slay dude” is just too un-original and boring. I’ll be responding to the comments that I like most right below their answer. Kindly review some guidelines before entering your submission. We don’t have a lot of tickets for this one. Also there is no need to remind me that this is a brand new band. I am well aware of that so the interested should line out their hopes and interests in this project in some fashion.
