Out Now: “Serenity: No Power In The ‘Verse” #1

About The Comic:
The ’verse is a complicated and dangerous place, and Malcolm Reynolds and his outlaw crew aboard the Serenity are ever experiencing tough times. When tensions rise among the crew, a call for help becomes a welcome interruption: they must track down a missing friend and the answers to the mystery surrounding her disappearance. Georges Jeanty (Buffy Seasons 8 and 9) returns to the ’verse! iZombie creator Chris Roberson writes the continuing adventures of Mal and crew.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: Are you ready to give me a slap on the bean with this disclosure? No? Perhaps you will once I say that I have never seen a single episode of the cult favorite series “Firefly”. Yeah it just ended up happening that way. I missed the boat when it was first on and then I never looked back into it despite my friends saying how I would love it because it was awesome. Don’t worry there is a super affordable Blu-ray set available and I will investigate picking that up so I can join in with the rest of you. So that admission makes this a series that while lost on me, would truly be something that pleases the fans of the short-lived show. Speaking frankly, I just love that Dark Horse Comics is keeping this mythology vibrant by offering up new adventures of the characters that were on the show. What do you readers think about this new series? Will you be collecting it in single issue format or waiting on a collected edition to have it all in one place. Let me know in the comments section below.

Out Now: “Predator: Fire and Stone” #1

About The Comic: A universe of terror drawn to one world. As the Perses begins her long journey home, a deadly stowaway forces the crew into a savage conflict! While the crew defend themselves against this unseen predator, the hunter itself stalks a much more substantial game! Dark Horse’s Prometheus event sharpens its claws!

PiercingMetal Thoughts: Expanding on the tales we’ve found building up in “Prometheus: Fire and Stone” and “Aliens: Fire and Stone” comes the title featuring the deadly intergalactic hunters – The Predators. I’ve already mentioned how I will be picking these up as collected editions and since we are at the third unique series for the crossover, I don’t even think I will be glancing at this on the shelves to keep any spoiler stuff out of my line of sight. What about you? Have you been following along with this massive crossover event at all? Do you recommend it to our readers that are just learning of it now? Out Now: “Aliens: Fire and Stone” #1

About The Comic: During a vicious xenomorph outbreak, terraforming engineer Derrick Russell leads a desperate group of survivors onto a rickety mining vessel. They hope to escape the creatures overrunning their colony—but they’ll face horrors both in space and on the strange planet they crash on. Ties in with the Prometheus and Aliens films!

PiercingMetal Thoughts: I’ve always enjoyed the Aliens comics from Dark Horse because they give you what you crave the most about the creatures. Their utter ruthlessness and savagery upon mankind and well, any sort of kind that is in front of them. To the Xenomorphs we are all food and I’m glad they don’t really exist. Now while I will likely peruse the title when I see it on the racks to enjoy the artwork, I am not planning on paying much attention to it until a collected edition is out. I’m trying to slow down on the single issue purchases these days outside of the digital copies I see for reviewing and sharing with you folks purposes. I would much rather see this in my bookcase next to similar tomes. What do you readers think of this massive crossover? Are you down with it or not? Let me know in the comments section below.

Out Now: “Prometheus: Fire and Stone” #1

About The Comic: When the Prometheus never returned from her fateful journey to LV-223, the questions surrounding the origins of man went unanswered. Now a new team of explorers seeks to uncover the dark mystery that holds not only the fate of theoriginal mission, but possibly their own damnation. Ties directly into the hit motion picture! First issue in a blockbuster crossover event!

PiercingMetal Thoughts: While I love that Dark Horse Comics is going to be doing a connecting series of titles to expand upon this story line, I must share with you that I absolutely HATED this “Prometheus” film. Now, a lot of my friends thought it was amazing but I felt it was too long, too ponderous and really only offered up a small amount of “jeepers” moments. To each their own right? All I know is that I am NOT adding this film to my video library nor will I ever watch it again. With that being said I will peruse the comic when its on the shelves of my local shop but I don’t think that I am going to buy the single issues and instead shall wait for the collected edition. This is going to cross into a title with Aliens and Predator franchises so in a few months I will have some pretty creepy reading to do. What do you readers think about the idea of this “Prometheus” comic series and it connecting to the other character universes? Let me know in the comments section below.
