Sure it was great to see the news earlier today about the 25th Anniversary celebrations for the Vans Warped Tour (seen HERE just in case you didn’t scroll too far back), but this is the kind of news that makes the morning coffee all the more enjoyable. The Masters of Thrash in Overkill will tour for their new album and you can check out the full press release, poster and dates down below.
The Press Release:
Legendary New Jersey thrashers OVERKILL are proud to announce The Wings Over USA 2019 tour. Kicking off on April 25th in Baltimore, the tour will make stops in Pittsburgh, Chicago and Nashville before concluding in Boston on May 11th. Joining the tour are none other than San Francisco Bay Area thrash legends and label mates DEATH ANGEL and ex-members of Megadeth, Shadows Fall and Scar The Martyr, ACT OF DEFIANCE.
Bobby Blitz comments “”We look forward to bringing ‘The Wings’ over the USA. It’s been a long road but the journey is not over yet. DEATH ANGEL and ACT OF DEFIANCE join us on this jaunt so prepare yourself for a righteous beating. Let the headbanging begin in April!” Continue reading Overkill Announces “Wings Over The USA” Tour→
Historically speaking, the Thrash Metal titans known as Overkill have been wrecking our necks since 1980 and their catalog is rife with tunes that inspire some of the wildest mosh pits ever experienced. 2018 finds the band celebrating two of their bodies of work with the live CD/DVD entitled “Live In Overhausen” which comes care of their label, Nuclear Blast Records. Recently the band unveiled the first trailer about the release. Check it out.
About The Clip: Celebrating the band’s history, Live In Overhausen, captured not one but two album anniversaries. Fans assembled on April 16, 2016 at Turbinenhalle 2 in Oberhausen, Germany for the 25th Anniversary of “Horrorscope” and 30th Anniversary of where it all began, “Feel The Fire”. A full night of kill from the past played loud and in its entirety!
PiercingMetal Thoughts: Truth be told this is not a big deal of a trailer outside of it sharing the ideas that will be manifested in the forthcoming live video release and its subsequent album. It’s a nice teaser but the band founders who speak (Blitz and D.D.) don’t really outline much more than they decided to do two of their classic albums for the recording. It’s not a bad idea since we haven’t had a live Overkill recording in many, many years. This behind the scenes clip doesn’t even feature any of their sonic live show outside of a quick blink of the stage from the audience. I’ll be watching out for additional trailers and will surely share them here when we are alerted. Did you like this teaser? Chime in below as its always welcome. You can pre-order the release care of the Amazon.com link below.
Though the Summertime Blues haven’t quite hit us, the time has come to start sharing the announcements of the tours that will bring us into the Fall and what better one to start with than the mighty “Metal Alliance Tour”. Check out this years poster, dates and official press release. I’ll close it all up with some thoughts afterwards. Let’s go.

Each year this touring festival assembles a package that celebrates the various genres of Metal. We are very proud to announce New Jersey thrash metal legends OVERKILL, the undisputed titans of thrash metal as this year’s headliner.
Sharing the stage each night and crushing skulls on the Metal Alliance Tour will be New Orleans native doom/sludge band CROWBAR, Colorado thrash metal stalwarts HAVOK, technical thrash metal band BLACK FAST and INVIDIA featuring former members of SKINLAB.
You’ll have to forgive me for getting to this one a little later than planned but I was out and about our Metal Metropolis supporting a couple of other Nuclear Blast Records artists and wow what an exciting time that was. If you have not yet listened to the bands Epica and Fleshgod Apocalypse yet, do yourself a favor and search them on Spotify since they are outstanding. Now to the task at hand which is to share the press release about the 2017 North American tour by Thrash Metal monsters Overkill and their direct support Nile. Talk about a nuclear blast of a package. Read on.

Views about this latest track from the Thrash Metal Legends Overkill have been making the rounds for a couple of weeks now but I decided to post something on the day of its digital release so fans could order it straightaway after hearing our own thoughts on it. Well, I hope that they do that at least since it’s a cooking number from beginning to end and gives us a nice taste of what is to come from their upcoming album “The Grinding Wheel” which is the band’s first album on Nuclear Blast Records. That said, according to Blitz we’ll have to wait until February of 2017 for the full thing which makes getting this track around into the hands of the masses a paramount effort.
