The Details: For those who have followed my Contests area on PiercingMetal some of the text in this might sound a little bit repetitive and I will be straight with you and say that it’s almost a word for word redo with a light modification. The guys in King’s X are road warriors and one of the best sounding bands that I have ever had the pleasure of seeing in concert. It’s a fact that they’ve never disappointed their fans yet in terms of great gigs and solid recordings. Those of you who have similar experiences are likely nodding your heads along to the statement and yet despite this there are far too many people that have not a single idea about what this band holds in their musical grasp. 2018 finds them still pushing forward with the musical charge and on the cusp of their fortieth anniversary as a band. That said, I am once again super excited to say that thanks to the folks from CEG Presents, some lucky PiercingMetal fans will be hitting the show for free when they perform at Sony Hall. This will mark my fifth contest for the band and brings the PiercingMetal outlet a little bit closer to our 1700th ticket. Isn’t that cool? We like to think so. The rules on how to participate are below.
When and Where: Wednesday, August 22nd at Sony Hall (235 West 46th Street) 7PM Show
To Participate: Tell me three things that you like the most about King’s X as a band and why you need to be a part of this show. I will be picking a few lucky winners out of the responders and letting them know right below their comment so make it a good one. We ask that you please follow this criteria: Continue reading Win A Ticket To See Kings X @ Sony Hall On 8/22/2018→
The Details: I’ve been a fan of The Sweet for as long as I can remember and yet despite this few decades of appreciation have never seen the band in concert. Unless I’ve misplaced an album, there are about a dozen in my music library and while this is the US version of the group (yes there are TWO “The Sweets” in 2018), this one features original bassist Steve Priest and our old friend from ZO2 Mr. Paulie Z. and a cadre of kickass musicians. Even more exciting is the fact that Tragedy, the all Heavy Metal tribute to The Bee Gees will be opening up – so what am I getting at here? Well, thanks to the mighty minds in the Marketing division, we are putting some of the PiercingMetal readers into this show for free. Check it out down below.
When and Where: Thursday, April 26th @ Gramercy Theatre (127 East 23rd Street, NYC)
To Participate: I usually ask for three things about the band or solo artist that is playing but I have a feeling that with The Sweet being a legendary act that has retained a cult level of status that many might not be 100% up on them. That said, I am asking that you hit YouTube, Spotify and Wikipedia to familiarize yourself just a little bit and then tell me three reasons why this show is of interest to you. I’ll be picking out the submissions that speak to me the most and will be letting them know directly. Before we continue here are some of the usual guidelines to keep the process straightforward. This contest will run until supplies run out or on the morning of the show. Whichever comes first. Continue reading Win A Ticket To See The Sweet @ Gramercy Theatre On 4/26/2018→
The Details: Richie Kotzen is a virtuoso guitar slinger who has been delivering the goods for many years and while he first came to awareness during his stint with Glam Rockers Poison, it was as a solo artist and later a founding member of The Winery Dogs that he gained the most prominence. His rich, soulful sound and skills on the guitar are best experienced live and that makes this announcement all the more special for us here at the PiercingMetal Media Command HQ. You might have read our posting about a brand-new venue in NYC known as Sony Hall and if not click HERE to be up to speed on this information. This will mark the very first contest for this venue and also the very first for Richie Kotzen and the details on how to participate are below for you to try your luck.
When and Where: Thursday, April 19th @ Sony Hall (235 West 46th Street, NYC)
To Participate: As Richie’s name is pretty much widely known by this point in time, I’m going to keep it to my request of three reasons or things that you most enjoyed about his career. These can revisit memories of his work with Poison, Winery Dogs and of course as a solo performer. You can mix them all up if you like but just be sure that there are three items in your entry. Oh yeah and there is a catch this time around. To qualify for this one, we are also asking our participants to “Shout It Out Loud” for the PiercingMetal social networks and that means using Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to show your love. It’s simple, just open your preferred network and share a screenshot and say “Follow PiercingMetal.com” with a link to our respective page. Do all three if you want to increase your chances of winning. Now, as usual here are some guidelines to make sure we are on the same page. The Details: According to my records, this latest contest will mark the fifth time that I have done a giveaway for Y&T tickets and that is fantastic. So much so, I am repeating the scoop from a past contest to get this one online fast and furious. Here we go. I’ve said this before and I will say it again. Y&T are one of the best Hard Rock bands in history if you ask me. I mentioned once that I got into the band very late but have done what I can with the site to support their efforts. If you have not seen them yet you might want to get up on that since I can honestly say that there has never been a show done by them that I didn’t feel pulled out all the stops and left the audience screaming for more. Thought the lineup has changed since the beginning the group is still commanded by the great Dave Meniketti who has those powerful pipes and plays that guitar like it’s nobody’s business. All of this makes me happy to announce that the band will once again be returning to the stage of the B.B. King Blues Club and thanks to the venue some of the PiercingMetal readers are going to get to enjoy the show for free. Cool right? Read more below on how this works.
The Details: As a comic book reader growing up there were two series that I loved and they were “Marvel Team-Up” and “Marvel Two-In-One” and essentially these were tales that took two great characters and united them for a single purpose. I thought of this when it came to the upcoming tour that features the legendary Scorpions and the mighty Megadeth as they plan to hit the awesome Madison Square Garden this Saturday. I have been listening to these two bands for as long as I can remember and was getting very excited about bringing a story and images to your attention soon after. Then I learned that thanks to the fine folks in the Marketing division of the LiveNation team that will be putting in some truly lucky fans into the show on the house. I am stoked because I think this amounts to our biggest bands to have given away tickets to yet. Check out the details on how to participate.
When and Where: Saturday, September 16th @ Madison Square Garden (NYC)
To Participate: This is NOT an easy one at all but still runs on the same premise as our other contests. I am sticking to the three things about the band that makes your fist pump high into the air and raise the love of the Metal in your very soul but for this one I am assigning some homework. Please give me “3” things that you like most about the bands and I mean each of them so “6” total points. There shouldn’t be any newbies to the music of Scorpions and Megadeth that’s for sure. Perhaps there are albums that “spoke” to you or concert appearances that sent you to the music shop to snag some of the band members earlier works. Just give me three solid answers for each and how important it is to be at this show. I know I make you work but I work here too so whining about the process will not win out at all LOL. Make this good reading because the stuff remains on the website and can likely inspire new fans as well on how our freebies work. Writing “because they slay dude” is just too un-original and boring. I’ll be responding to the comments that I like most right below their answer. Kindly review some guidelines before entering your submission. Extra credit is welcome of course if you’d like to laud the greatness of the other performers as well. We don’t have a lot of tickets for this one.
