“Deja Thoris” #1

The Press Release:
DEJAH THORIS is back in a brand new ongoing series by sci-fi superstar Dan Abnett, launching this December! Writer Dan Abnett (Guardians of the Galaxy, Aquaman) and his fellow creators are heading to Barsoom to chronicle the latest tales of Dejah. His co-pilot for this mission is artist Vasco Georgiev (Xena). The crew is rounded out by colorist Dearbhla Kelly (Red Sonja) and letterer Simon Bowland (James Bond Origin).

Barsoom has always been a dying world, teetering on disaster, but it may be closer to death these days. Dejah Thoris has been many things in life; a wife, a mother, royalty and an adventurer. Now her role as a scientist must take center stage, as she attempts to investigate why her homeworld is freezing. Other skills come into play when it’s discovered that political factions may be hiding the secrets of this global catastrophe. Glittering palace intrigue and visceral adventure abound in this new series, as Dejah joins her fellow Women of Dynamite “trinity” of Vampirella and Red Sonja.

“KISS: Zombies” #1

The Press Release:
Dynamite announces the next epic chapter in the comic book chronicles of the legendary rock band, KISS: Zombies!

After all, what can possibly happen after “The End” than a full-blown zombie apocalypse? That is the screwed up status quo that writer Ethan Sacks (Old Man Hawkeye, Star Wars) and artist Rodney Buchemi (Death of Hawkman) will tackle in this new limited series. Assisted on colors and letters by Dijjo Lima (Assassin’s Creed, Doc Savage) and Troy Peteri (Amazing Spider-Man, Witchblade).

Picking up decades after the fall of civilization, humans are now an endangered species isolated to strongholds such as the central New Detroit. These undead are attracted to sound, so music and all related iconography have been banned. Especially that of the greatest band in history. However, a group of teenagers are not going to live this way and set out on a quest to track down KISS! Who may ultimately be the ultimate weapon to turn the tide against the zombies! Sacks has described the series as a cocktail of Land of the Dead, A Quiet Place, Seven Samurai and even Footloose!

Lady Satanus Storyline Coming

The Press Release:
Coffin Comics announced today, that the new character Lady Satanus is in development for her own story by creator/writer Brian Pulido and co-writer Mike MacLean. The announcement came in advance of her 1st appearance in Lady Death: Blasphemy Anthem #1.

“The sneak preview of Dawn McTeigue’s Lady Satanus cover for the Lady Death: Blasphemy Anthem #1 really created a buzz. And rightfully so,” say co-writer Mike MacLean. “As for the character herself, if you took a wicked, silver-tongued socialite and gave her access to the darkest magics of Hell, you’d have an idea of what Lady Satanus is like.”

Based on the overwhelming support from Coffin Comics fans of the Lady Satanus sneak preview cover, legendary comic book creator Brian Pulido was forced to take notice. Thankfully, he has a delicious story in mind, “I think the fiends will be happy,” Pulido claims.

The project release date is yet to be announced.

PiercingMetal Thoughts: As I didn’t manage to read “Lady Death: Blasphemy Anthem” #1 where the character was first introduced, I will not really add anything to the mix since I am not in the know. I need to see if my local retailer has a copy somewhere on the racks hidden by those who move the issues around when shopping. Wish me luck since my shop doesn’t order a whole bunch of the Coffin Comics output and instead only adds a handful or more to their order since the demographic of the place leans more Marvel and DC Comics. I’m curious to see what Lady Satanus is about for sure. What do you fellow comic book geeks think about this news? Chime in down below.
