This high-stakes mission comes courtesy of all-star creative team Karla Pacheco (PUNISHER ANNUAL, FANTASTIC FOUR 2099) and Pere Perez (UNCANNY X-MEN). “I love Spider-Woman, and I’m incredibly excited to share this series with both new and old Jessica Drew fans alike. This is big, can’t miss, over-the-top action, some very surprising ‘venom blasts from the pasts,’ and also a TON of helicopter explosions,” Pacheco says. “It’s a super fun adventure with a lot of twists and turns…and seriously, so many helicopter explosions. We’re taking Jess bigger and badder than she’s ever been before, and I can’t wait for readers to see what we’ve cooked up.”

What’s wrong with Jessica? Just how DID she get this job? And who are these violent lunatics who keep trying to blow her up? You’ll have to wait and see, but in the meantime, check out the stunning cover by Junggeun Yoon, showing Jessica doing what she does best in her iconic costume! PiercingMetal Thoughts: I’ve been a fan since Spider-Woman first appeared in the pages of “Marvel Premiere” which was one of my very favorite titles back in the day. She soon received her own series and I was a regular buyer of that before losing track or perhaps it finished its initial run – its been so long a time since that series that I don’t really remember. Though I haven’t followed her adventures all that recently, I do recall some issues where she was doing her thing while pregnant and that an artist did a super sexy cover that caused quite a stir among the masses and its always a pleasure to see cosplayers at the assorted conventions dressed as her. I am hopeful for this new series and will most likely be picking it up when it hits the racks this Spring. What say you? Chime in down below in the comments section.

“Nebula” #1

“[Since] the movies kind of reinvigorated interest in her, we’ve gotten to see her pop up more and more in the comics. And now, here’s her solo title where all we do is really dive deep and explore who she is and why she does what she does. That’s kind of my jam,” Ayala said in an exclusive interview with Refinery29. “I really want to kind of showcase how cool Nebula is even though she’s a bad guy, and how much more complex she is than what we might assume….it was my mission to try and show who she is on a kind of two-dimensional level. Being able to be in her head and fill out all the corners is really given me an appreciation for her, and I want other people to also love her and want her to do her best.”

NEBULA #1 by Vita Ayala and Claire Roe is on sale this February! For more information on the series, head to Marvel.com. To find a comic shop near you, visit www.comicshoplocator.com or call 1-888-comicbook.

Marvel Announces Robert E. Howard’s “Dark Agnes” Series In Feb 2020

dark agnes comics logo

The Press Release:
Announced today at MCM Comic Con London, Robert E. Howard’s swashbuckling heroine, Dark Agnes, will helm her very first comic series! Dark Agnes will be making her Marvel Comics debut this December in CONAN: SERPENT WAR, introducing this beloved swordswoman to a new generation of readers, before taking off on her own adventures in February’s DARK AGNES #1.

The five-issue limited series will depict the journey of Agnes de Chastillon as she frees herself from an arranged marriage to live the dangerous life of a sellsword in 16th-century France. Joined by Etienne Villers, the mercenary pair’s daring exploits will be penned by writer Becky Cloonan(THE PUNISHER) with art by Luca Pizzari(WEAPON X, BLACK KNIGHT).

“Dark Agnes” #1

“I wouldn’t be surprised if you told me you’d never heard of Dark Agnes. Well, that’s about to change,” says Cloonan. “Agnes is the unsung anti-hero of Robert E. Howard’s legendary body of work. She’s a swashbuckling, musket wielding, doublet wearing bad ass swordswoman from the early Renaissance. A fierce warrior, a stalwart friend, and a brutal, unrelenting force in a bloody, chaotic world. Agnes is just as relevant today as she was when Howard dreamed her up, and as she is in her own time: the filthy 1500’s. Join us for a tale of mystery, adventure, and revenge!”

“Considering Howard is mostly known for his male protagonists, it’s perhaps surprising to new readers of his works that the original Sword Woman story was written back in the 1930’s as a woman in first person,” says Joakim Zetterberg, Executive Vice President at Conan Properties. “It shows that Howard’s heroines equal his heroes in being whirlwind adventurers. We’re certain Becky, Luca and the Marvel team will make this series truly kick ass, befitting Agnes herself.”

Since early this year, fans have been delighted to see characters from the legendary mind of Robert E. Howard return to the Marvel Universe with titles like CONAN THE BARBARIAN, SAVAGE SWORD OF CONAN, and AGE OF CONAN: BÊLIT and VALERIA, and now, Marvel Comics is honored to welcome the classic character of Dark Agnes to this amazing lineup. Follow Dark Agnes on her epic quest this February!

PiercingMetal Thoughts: Since I don’t know a whole lot about this character I will leave well enough alone. At the time of this writing I am not sure I will be picking up the individual issues or waiting for a collected edition since it’s a mini-series. Let’s see how I’m feeling when I peruse it on the racks of my local comic book shop. What about you readers? Are you aware of this particular creation of the great Robert E. Howard? Chime in down below because its always great to get some interaction from you all. See you next time.
