Marvel Announces “How To Draw” Variants by Chip Zdarsky For Fall

These variant editions were announced a few days ago but since they are coming out in the Fall, there was no need to rush the information to you. Now with a break in the crazy music life, I can address them and share the official scoop on the “How To Draw” variant covers that are heading our way in the Fall. They’ll be done by Chip Zdarsky and you can get the full skinny down below and then see some of the provided covers. Sadly, they don’t send them all out in these mailers. Oh well.

The Press Release:
Learn to draw super heroes in six easy steps! Have you ever wanted the great power and responsibility of drawing Spider-Man? Do you look at the pages of Black Panther and wish you could draw a Wakandan king? How often have you been tempted to break the fourth wall and draw Gwenpool?

Marvel has always championed rising creators, and now fans can learn how to draw like a super hero with HOW TO DRAW VARIANT COVERS by blockbuster writer Chip Zdarsky (Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man, Howard The Duck, Star-Lord.) First appearing on the back of a blank variant cover on Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man #1, HOW TO DRAW VARIANTS will debut on the covers of select Marvel comics this fall. Each custom cover features a step-by-step process for drawing one of Marvel’s iconic characters – along with some helpful “Zdarsky Advice” for good measure.

“I don’t really know how to draw so this whole thing feels quite irresponsible,” said Chip Zdarsky, who must know how to draw. Right?

Exploring Book Expo 2017: Marvel Comics @ Javits Center

As already noted over on “The Chronicles Of PiercingKen”, I was once again exploring The Book Expo (which was previously known as Book Expo America) as a member of the press. I’m an avid reader and I love exploring this event to see what is coming out based on bands and comic book characters that I enjoy. This year, I learned of a Marvel Comics panel that was happening so I sat down and listened to what some amazing authors had to say.

The assembled scribes included legendary “Goosebumps” creator R.L. Stine, Margaret Stohl, Jason Reynolds and Rainbow Rowell (pictured from left to right). Each of them was working on or had just finished titles featuring Man-Thing, Captain Marvel, Miles Morales: Spider-Man and the Runaways.

Marvel Comics Presents: “Captain Marvel: Alien Nation” w Music From Glass Candy

There is a whole lot of buzz surrounding Captain Marvel these days because not only is she rising in prominence on the printed pages but she will have her own film in the coming years and be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe as well. This is pretty cool on its own but now in celebration of her brand-new series, Marvel Comics is partnering up with some incredible music acts to showcase each issue. The second part features Glass Candy who is not a band that we know all that well since they are more of an Pop Electronica and we don’t listen to a lot of that sort of stuff here at the Metal Command HQ. Check out how they continue the revelations behind the “Mighty Captain Marvel” down below.
